so what do both gensets normally sell for, i have been looking at them.....
i like the idea of the 10k units....
It's hard to say what they go for. A lot depends on the location where it's sold, how many people want it more than you is a big one. You can definitely get a better deal if they are selling a lot of them at one time, probably 50 or more. When I bought mine they were selling 150 of them in the same event. I picked up two for just under $1300 after the fees and taxes. I've seen one lone set go for that much in the right market. If you want to get the ASK with it or want it on a trailer...expect to pay close to or over $1000 for one set.
I will tell you this though, they are great sets and mine run like champs. One of them produces enough power to run my whole house with capacity left over.

GL sells a lot of these generators, some are just field returns with no service performed others have been rebuilt. Let the hours on the meter be your guide.
Not to contradict, but you can not trust the hour meters on these sets. Are they supposed to be correct...Yes
Are they supposed to record and make a note of the hours when they replace the meter due to failure or damage...YES
Do they do this...NO!!...or at least not always.
I have seen sets for sale on GL that have very few recorded hours (less than 100), with severely weathered control panels and rusty screws on the other gauges. This tells me that they have either set outside in the weather for a great number of years without being run, or the meter was replaced! These are just like the deuces you buy, when there is a problem with the gauge you replace it. I can't hardly imagine a 1970 deuce with only 10 to 15 thousand original miles...can you?
