Is there a good screw adjustable (vernier) throttle control out there in surplus land, that could take the place of the pull type?
TIA for any info.

I picked one up from miltrucks a good while back and put it in my 818 winch truck. The mounting hole needed to be opened up quite a bit, but it was sooooooooooooooo worth it. Almost as nice as power steering and electric windshield wipers!

And wouldn't you know it, I don't have a single pic of the dang thing...

How about one from an MEP genset? My MEP-701 has the twist type throttle. Works very smooth. May not be long enough for your needs, but could probably be modified.

I should be headed back over to the coal mine this week and I'll get you a few pics.

It came coiled in a plain cardboard box, and had to be cut to length after the mounting hole was enlarged. Then the original clamp thingy on the engine-end needed the center hole drilled out because the cable core is quite a bit thicker than what was there before.
To use it, you screw it out until the rpm's are right, and to release you can either turn the screw back in or push the button and it'll release itself. Very accurate, and very easy to use.

Did you try your local NAPA? Should be there but if not you can find them easily on the 'net, with 3 day delivery to your domicile.

I just bought a universal cable from a guy on ebay. He speciallizes in getset parts. Mostly military ones. It was about 7 feet and you cut it to length. I think it would work out great for this. It's very close to the one in your pic. His number is 574-674-0255.

That end where the hand wheel is, looks an awful lot like the one on the MEP-003 and 002 generators.
