Napa muffler that will really quiet the truck down?

so guys, this may sound dumb but i cant handle the noise anymore. I want a muffler from napa that will really quiet the thing down.

Any ideas?

I ordered the Donaldson M070028 last week. It should be in tomorrow and I will install this weekend. I will try to take some before / after db readings from the cab and let you know.

there are a couple of NAPA items that have been used, but I can speak to the effectiveness. NAPA PN 21470, 17224.

the 17224 is a Dynomax and sells for 91.99. it is 21" overall, 16" body, 3.5" inlet and outlet.

the 21470 is a NAPA and sells for 77.99. it is 38" overall, 30" body, 3.5 in and out. I think there are posts about all three if you search.

I don't want to quiet my deuce down at all cause I like the noise but can anyone tell me if a muffler hurts the perfomance. I have read a lot of posts about putting a muffler on a deuce but no one has said anything about the way it runs. Just curious. Bob C.

We went with the Dynomax from Napa and got them down to around 89 a pop.
Did not hurt the performance as it is a straight thru system - it did take the bark out of the tone - personal preference anyhow - I really don;t want to listen to anyone in the truck - just want to enjoy the ride with no tunes either unless I have to stick it in there for the other 1/2.

I bought a muffler insert from Jeg's online. It fit inside the top exhaust pipe and only cost about $15.00. It doesn’t make it quite, but it does make it tolerable.

I was pondering the idea of using one of those bullet race muffles right off of the turbo in the J-pipe so that unless you were looking for it you wouldn't see it and the truck would appear stock. I was thinking about the Hushpower mufflers. they really quiet the trucks down but are a performance muffler that is used on everything from race cars to diesel trucks and motor homes. a bit more expensive though.

The Napa muffler toned downed my deuce a bit - it really is a straight through muffler, so the performance hit should be negligible. Not too mention, the install only took about 60 minutes with a Sawzall and making a custom bracket to hold it in place. Used Stainless clamps that one would use in drain/waste plumbing as they are quite large and cheap.

I used the dynomax on my non whistler made the noise much better, used jegs 30734 stainless band clamp worked great..
next i'll try it on a whistler hope it works as good....

yep i used the same one and it works great my truck is a c-turbo also its so quit now my 2year little girl can enjoy the ride and her 4 year old sister falls asleep

Here is another Dynomax unit many have used. It's $42 (vs $90 for the other Dynomax? don't know what the difference is) and fits behind the factory heat shield, so It's not really noticable.

You could go with a "D" turbo. That would help. I bet there are people jumping up and down on here to trade you their "D" for your "C" .

Just bought a Dynomax 24216 but haven't installed it yet. Hopefully in the next few days...

Buy it at Pep Boys instead of NAPA if you have one close - it's only about $45 at Pep Boys instead of almost $90 at NAPA.

The other thing that can quiet the truck down (at least for the passengers is to make your stack taller.

i used a dynomax that i had layin around 4" in and out/ 5" dia. works great cause i drive the crap out of my Deuce also went 4" pipe and flaper and the pipe goes up to 10' from the ground ... the flappers is louder at 20' away

Mine is a C turbo and I used the Dynomax 24216 also. I have no official readings on decibels. However, I know that while operating at highway speeds, I went from screaming at the top of my lungs to halfway comunicate with the co-driver, to where now I can do it with just a loud voice. At city speeds it is very nice, and you can have pretty much a normal conversation. You still have engine, wind, & other noises to deal with. Hope this helps.

i love the turbo whistle sound thats fine, the problem is the loud barking tone from the engine, its very loud. But i imagine i cant get one without the other so thats fine i just want the ridiculous level of noise down to where i can talk normally and not have to where ear plugs even at high way speeds

I like the subdued sound of a muffeled Deuce, theres still the whistle and no mistaking what it is, but additional noise reduction would be nice. My Napa job's a straight-through model. I think the next thing is to get rubber matting and insulate the cab. I really do prefer more quietness.
