Cheap Tires in South Texas & AL

We found a good source of used Military tires and figured we would pass it along:

We purchased eight 9.00 x 20 tires for $39 each. All of the tires were like new, and most of them still had the new tire "knobies"
The tires were a mix of Goodyear and Fidelity brands

Gensco Aircraft Tires
Home

They also have 11.00 x 20, 12.5 x 20, 14.5 x 20, and the Goodyear 16.5 HUMVEE tires.

They have three locations:
Wharton, Texas ( where we got our tires )
Houston, Texas
Anniston, Alabama

You have to call for prices, I do know that the 12.5's are $125 each because we asked about them.
If one location doesn't have the tire you need, they can be shipped from one of the other locations to the location you need them at. Supposedly they have trucks that run back and forth weekly between locations. ( at least that is what they told us )

Two of our members have since purchased a set of the HUMVEE tires for their 4x4 trucks, I think they ran around $170 for 4 of them. The tires look brand new, now I'm going to have to find a set of 16.5 rims for my 4x4 "big" Blazer

Great find. I wish that they were a little bit closer. I think I can get them closer for a little more money but probably make up the difference in fuel. I will have to check and see.

Yes, you have to call and ask about the military tires. They are not listed on the website by tire size or type. The paper catalog lists most of the military tires they have by size and manuf.

The only mention on the website is:
Through various government, military, and private contracts, Gensco handles thousands of surplus wheels and axles.

We only found out they stocked military tires by chance when one of our members happened to stop there looking for something else.

In Houston they have 7.00-16 NDCC, 9.00-20 NDCC, 11.00-20 NDCC, HMMWV Goodyear Wranglers, the Goodyear and Michelins for 900 series 5 tons, and the HEMMTT monsters. All are nice deep rubber

Well their prices have gone up I guess. I just got off the phone with them and good 9.00x20's are $70 in Anniston. Heck of an increase from the $39 that they were in March.

After a cubic buttload of guys called them all at once, they probably figured out their pricing was super low! Notice when Sportsmans Guide got tops back in stock, they raised the price significantly?

They want $44 each for 9x16 NDTs with only 50% tread left. Yeah it's better than $125 each but at least for that you're getting new tires.

I bought a couple of 9.00x20s at the north Houston location for $39 each in preparation for my upcoming (on hold!) recovery at Ft. Sam. Also got some good tubes for $5, no flaps though. Nice folks to deal with and they have 11.00x20s and the bigger super singles also. Deep tread and great condition. Can't go wrong!
