The final M105A3 model featured a number of improvements over earlier models including a hydraulic surge brake, an adjustable lunette and improved maintainability and corrosion resistance. The final contract award for the M105A3 was to Pribbs Steel and Manufacturing Inc, was awarded in October 1997 and called for up to 5,000 trailers over a five-year period. Fielding of the M105A3 to US Army units was completed during 2003.

What is the difference between a m105a2 and a m105a3? Is there any difference?
M105a2 trailer used 9.00x20 tube type NDT tires, air over hydraulic brakes and a very heavy front landing gear leg.

The bed internal dimensions are 108.0" long x 74.0" wide. The distance between wheel wells is approximately 58"

The M105a3 trailer uses 10.00x22.5 tubeless radial tires.

The M105a3 also uses a commercial landing gear leg which is the sore point of this trailer in that the retaining pin only locks into one side of the rotating assembly and is easily bent or broken.

The M105a3 is bed is 108" long and 74" wide. The distance between wheel wells was increased to 65".

Composite tail lights were incorporated into the corners of the trailer as well as the addition of marker lights. Mounted on the passenger side fender is a jack assembly used for supporting the trailer while loading as well as used for tire replacement. A spare tire mount is affixed to the outside front of the trailer bed. The sheet metal components of the bed are e-phosphate coated prior to welding.

The A3 trailers are much nicer than the A2 trailers...however, the landing leg sucks! It is really wimpy. The manual clearly states that you should not move the trailer with a load in it while rolling the landing leg. The landing leg on my trailer is bent and half of the trailers that I've seen have a bent landing leg. Aside from the landing leg, the trailer is nicer than the A2. The tailgate has an integral step. There is a spare tire. One negative...because of the spare...two people are required to lift the lunette up, even when the trailer is empty. They are heavy!

Also, will the wheels from the A2 fit on the hubs of the A3?

As for using A2 landing gear on an A3, anything is adaptable with enough time and money. Just remember that the A3 has a surge brake coupler mounted where the A2 gear mounted, so it will have to be mounted further to the rear.

The wheels from an A2 or that matter any deuce wheel will bolt on, just that you have to use the A2 lug nuts with the A2 wheel. The A3 wheel is hubcentric while the A2 is lug centric.
