Stenciled on doors and stamped on plate up and to the left of glove box 04L80170

Nothing on frame.

I purchased the truck from Global GSE in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Sorry for the lack of info. If you need more info I'll make some calls to see what I can get from GSE.

MACCUS, posted it is likely a 1970.

Hi Carnac,

I've been having some problems with registering this truck. DMV & CHP are insisting on proof of the Year of Mfg. They are asking for official records with letterhead from DRMO or like entity, SF97 is not good enough for them. Do you know of any way that I could aquire the Year of Mfg. on an official doc? The data plate was replaced when the truck was rebuilt in 1991. The new data plate does not have the Year of Mfg on it. I have been unable to find the Frame Tempering Date on the frame.

Also, can you tell me if this is a REO, or a Studebacker?

Any help would be much appriciated.

Your serial number is on the drivers side frame at about the 10 o'clock position when looking at the tire. Its on the outside of the frame. Start scrapping, it's there.

Second serial number couldn't find anything due to the lack of further info.

As for the first number, I'm trying to be a smart donkey. The few numbers provided brought up 50 items with that string. Need to know if I'm looking for a M35A2 or a M1A2 Abrams, or a WWII halftrack.

Not sure what I can do for you. One suggestion is to go to a different DMV.

Crazy. The odometer currently reads 26,968. So given your record findings, this truck has only traveled 38 miles under its own power since the first year of Reagan Administration?!

Unless there is a rebuild sticker or they changed the odometer or did an update on mileage in the system without the date changing but that is unlikely.

For a 1966 being an A3, I suspect it had a full rebuild. I know when I was in Germany, we had both our deuces go for rebuilding in 1989 and they were both only about 18 years old. Although not wholely uncommon, I would be surprised if it wasn't rebuilt.
