OK Residue on GL

Any one pick up this residue in OK
0001 - Uncategorized at Government Liquidation

I talked to the GL Site rep and was informed that mutilation meant cut up into small pieces (verified by GL Rep) with no salvaging of parts WHAT SO EVER. Real shame as I think they're going to cut up 5 nice SECM bodies that would have made awesome trailers.

That just pisses me off to no extent. You have no idea. It breaks my heart and puts a tear in my eye.

The sad part is if someone from this site bought the stuff thinking they had hit the motherlode only to find out the truth when they go get it. Any type of mutilation requirements should be spelled out clearly prior to people bidding.

:roll: Uh Yeah I dont believe All the parts from those trucks will get mutilated.

I'm sure there's No fraud between some bidders ( the big guys with deep pockets that bid on those types of lots) and the Gov. personel that are paid to witness the mutilation.

Depends on whether it has to mutilated on site where the roving GL manager might have a bit of say over the fork-lift driver running around looking the other way. It's kind of tough to just overlook 5 SECM bodies rolling through the gate if on-site mutilation is required.

O.D. Green was thinking about bidding on these. My understanding is that for mutilation the parts can not be useable for their original purpose. So does that mean you can pull pieces off as long as you do not use the whole truck as the same truck. Also title doesnt transfer till mutilation is witnessed, so if you dont care if you have a title ( not rebuilding the actual truck just for parts ) then who needs a title. Pull the good parts scrap the frames and unuseable stuff. Just thinking.:roll:
Does anyone know if the witness this on Fort Sill or if you have to do it at another location?

They do tell you, it is in the "Terms and Condition" section and the way it is done has not been changed since the DRMO was selling it. If you demil on post you will also have to insurance and/or workman comp. Wayne

" Demilitarization As A Condition of Sale ("DCS") property are items that must be demilitarized pursuant to applicable Department of Defense regulations before title to the residue can pass to the Buyer. We will advise you of the demilitarization procedures for DCS property offered for sale on this website. Demilitarization will be effected by melting, popping, crushing, deforming, or otherwise mutilating the property so as to completely destroy its military purposes. The use of precision torch fixtures, saws, tools of any kind to minimize mutilation or demilitarization is forbidden. Buyers of DCS property are subject to surveillance and verification by the Department of Defense. Failure to perform the required demilitarization within 30 days of property removal may result in the Buyer being referred to the Defense Logistics Agency ("DLA") Office of Criminal Investigations ("DCIA") or other appropriate enforcement authorities, as well as the suspension of bidding privileges with us."

OK so looking at those trucks, what is "mutilating the property so as to completly destroy its military purpose"? I was at Ft Riley doing a preview and saw 2 guys loading up a bunch of aircraft heaters. all the alum. duct and axial fans had one hit with a sledge. they even took the sledge to the electric heater cores, dented them but from what I saw the heaters would have still operated and the fans (some of them) still turned freely. They loaded the stuff up and drove off the post with them.

They might have to cut up the secom boxes and cut some wires but I bet they dont sit there and make them "destroy" every little part. Driveshafts, doors, brackets, alternators. starters and on and on.

Double ditto.

This is where we need to find out who our elected officials are that are on the senate and house committees that oversee the DLA and make a little noise. I know it quite often seems they don't listen to the majority of what We the People want, much less a few green-blooded collectors. But we can't overlook this avenue. Smaller constituencies than we have had pretty significant results by their perseverance.

What is really crazy is that maint equipment, M1031s, M185 shop vans, etc do not even require a EUC.

Yeah i was watching that close and was thinking "hmm, i wonder how much beer would it take to lighten up the Mutilation clause with the GL rep."

See, i hit it with a hammer. its mutilated. And look what i found here, two cases of your favorite beer!!! How fortuitous!

I do often wonder how long it will take for the "powers that be" to realize that the same vehicles they are trying to get off the road (remember "cash for clunkers") they are selling to the general public to put on the road.

"Cash for Clunkers"! What a joke! A good number of folks actually traded in for vehicles with same-as or worse mileage than their old ones. To be honest, I think more folks should be driving diesels. Much better fuel economy and more longevity under the hood. [My wife's late-model minivan gets 15-18 mpg, while my M1009 gets 18-22mpg]. At 150k miles hers may have a year or two left. At 50k miles, mine has a good 10 years or more if I maintain it. Of course, with the trend toward "engineered obsolescence" the auto manufacturers don't really want to build affordable cars that will last 40 years. If you can buy a vehicle that will last 40 years for under 5k, why buy one that only lasts 10 years for $30k? Right? They'd go bust. As for me, I like the old Detroit steel with the smell of diesel.
