Howdy all: I have been looking at threads for a week now. I got a pad of paper out and started writing all kinds of great information down. Now my pad has disappeared, I think Aliens landed and abducted it. I have an M1008 and would like to install different filtering systems ( fuel and oil) on my truck, either spin-on or cartridge. I remember from some threads thet Racor filter adaptors are used by some. I would like to find some that are adaptble without extensive fabrication, other than brackets and fluid lines. I am planing on trying waste oil mixture for fuel. any suggestions for adaptors and filters? Thanks Tom

Racor makes some great spin on filter systems. They are pretty expensive though. I have a racor #445R and love it, it has a primer button that makes bleeding the whole system really easy.

I posted these pics of the fuel filter I use on my 3 CUCV's.

In this thread below.
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/3...using-new-filter-didnt-fix-issue-what-do.html

These are a spin on filter / water seperator that use the standard mounting holes as the stock military filter base but this one does not leak like the stock setup.

BTW The element is a napa unit part # 3418.

The element comes in a short and a tall the element in the pics is a tall its about $15.00 - $20.00.

This filter base can be found on civilian trucks that have the 6.2L or 6.5L diesel engine.

Hope this helps.

Check out Racor....if they're not to your liking....Trans-dapt carries a full line of spin-on fuel and oil filter blocks that go down to 10 microns. If you want quality...get stanadyne heater and filter all in the same unit for about $100, You can even get them with a built in lift pump and a filter change indicator....
