New type of Allison in deuce

This tranny is a little over twice the size of the Allison out of a Chevy. I was thinking of putting it in the Deuce because 1. I have the only two of these transmisions made. 2. I don't have a spare 5.9 Cummins right now, I have one but it is slated for my HMMWV. 3. I have a 15K onboard vehicle power, PTO driven, frame mounted generator. 4. I like to make cool rigs. The tranny alone cost more than the truck. The OBVP generator was more than the tranny. Then if I use the Stak T-case it's even more outlandish in comparison of the prices. But once again I allready have the tranny, OBVP generator and the T-case so why not use them.

i say go for it. what Stak 'case are you going to use? don't they have one w/ an OD hi-range? [edit: guess not, don't see it on their site.]

which ratio stak 'case do you have, though?

I meant to say the tranny is about twice the towing capacity of the Allison out of the Chevy. Not diminsionally bigger. I have three different Stak T-cases right now. I do have an improved overdrive Stak, but the concensus is that the OD case can't hold up to the tire size I want to run 46". But the other two with the normal 3.1 low and 1.1 high should hold up to the tires and TQ output of the motor. If I break it then I'll have to switch to 300M chromoly output shafts. At least I'll know one way or the other here soon.

what is an A2? you mean a m35A2? where are you gonna get a .75 od

I'm not an expert on this tranny. But I thought I remembered reading on some old posts here that the Early M35's had 0.79 fifth gears and the later ones had 0.75 OD 5th gears. I could be wrong.

The problem is if you go with too deep of an OD gear then the engine might lug & you'll be stuck in 4th on the freeway. That's why I believe a tranny swap that includes better OD is probably best suited for a simultaneous engine swap.

The multifuel has an odd bolt pattern. It is not a standard SAE pattern, but it does have an adapter on it to mate it to the Spicer transmission, which is a SAE #3 pattern.

one of two made can be good or really bad when it comes time to get parts.i would do the swap you are talking about but then do something even more rare and build the multi up to hold up to and put out 400 hp. :evil:

Remember though, that allison is likely meant to be put behind a stronger engine and big autos are power suckers. Putting an already low power engine behind it may result in less than stellar performance.

Go late model NV5600 IMO.
