I'm getting ready to bid on a decent looking m1028 that has 14, 000 miles on it. Are low miles like this a bad thing? Sorry for the question, but my only experience has been with the M1009's that usually have quite a bit more mileage than the trucks.

Hate to say it but without say CARNAC (or someone with access) pulling maintenance historical data on that vehicle you can't know for sure if it's really 14,000 miles or 114,000 miles since it could have rolled over. Typically I look for 60-80k mileage since the chances are better it's accurate.

They are great about swapping speedometer heads with a new odometer. Look for beat shock/spring eye bushings or grommets, loose steering, worn pedals, pedal arm bushings etc... There are some exceptionally nice low mileage trucks around and there are some advertised as low mileage that have many more, then there are the referred to 40K trucks with 140K or 240K on them. I bought a M1028 with 40,000 on it this fall, and It truly has only 40K on it, never owned a Chevy that runs as nice as this one, and what a Plow truck. If it would have had 4.11s in it it would be perfect. JT
