I was thinking about trying to buy one from an individual. I have a place to store it. I have a nice 24x50 foot inclosed shop with lots of tools and heaters. Just wondered if there was any paper work i needed to have just to buy it from and individual.

Try and search through the member list and find a local buddy that can talk to to you face to face and give you advice. The laws from state to state vary, and you could could get information from someone in another state that doesn't apply.
Don't get one without knowing things like, the cost of insuring in your state and registration hoops you might have to jump through.
There are plenty of options on getting parts new and used, but you should know what the costs are before you buy something you can't maintain or you have a yard ornament.:)

I can not belive there are three pages to this post and nobody said PATIENTS for all the little things to fix so it is suited to you needs/wants, the time to find the parts, and most of all the time it takes you to get where your going ! LOL, there big, heavy and slow but i love mine !

Just like buying a used car! Make sure the person has a TITLE! or else....MUAH HA HA!!!
Buying from an individual is much easier than buying surplus from the government, but only if the guy has a title for it. If he has no paperwork or just a bill of sale, run away from it.

Patience. Getting parts isnt as easy as going to autozone. Alot of stuff can still be had, and easily, by some dealers found here on the site. But parts come by a fedex guy, not a counterperson. Upswing is that the truck is designed to be fixed with handtools and duct tape in the field a majority of the time. True repairs will however take a little more time.
