Something finally started to fail on my M1008 that I got last Nov. The passenger side Generator started to make a bunch of noise mostly at idle and was slowly getting worse. It was a nice day today so I pulled out my tools and started to pull the Generator loose. Took it to the workbench and cracked the case apart. The front bearing was trashed, so I pressed it out of the case and went to Checker to find a replacement. They had a rebuild kit for an 85 Caddy with new brushes and a bunch of other pieces including the front bearing. I picked that up, it was like $16. I also asked about the rear bearing but it had to be shipped in from another store, that will be here tomorrow and was like $9 (I figured as long as I had the Gen apart I'd just replace the rear bearing). I cleaned all the dirt and grease off the case and got it all put back together except for the rear bearing. I may look at the other Gen on the driver side and see how those bearings look but it looks alot cleaner then the other one so I'm thinking it was replaced not to long ago.
