Do I need a 12v or 24 alternator

I need a new alternator and i am not sure if i a need a 24v or 12v alternator. let me know....

IIRC you have a M1008, which had 2 12v alternators.

ha this should be a good one... how much you wanna bet the "Tech" wont install the correct one??? IE Isolated ground large case.

Time to find a new mechanic.

The M1008 alternators are GM 27Si - 12v alternators with the "Isolated Ground". That is the the internal electronics are grounded thru the ground stud and not the alternator housing like "normal" alternators.

Search for isolated ground and there are many, many, many post covering this.

It depends on what's wrong with it. He is very good and reasonable. Both my starter and alt were shot $220 I think. He stands behind all of his work.

You can find the rebuild kits online for under $50. Twright found some for just over $30. PM him for the sellers location or possibly a rebuilt one for sale.
