Not a valid serial number. You will need to check the frame and get the correct one.

Based on the bumpers, it was an Army Test and Evaluation Command vehicle used at Y? Proving Grounds.

Oh Great Carnac ~~ Heeding your advice, I have removed a pound of paint on the right frame horn near the knee action shock. This has revealed stamped numbers about 3/4 of an inch tall as follows;
M220 Y368
The dash plate indicates the Manufacturer's serial number to be Y368

Yuma Proving Grounds seems to be the truck's last place before disposal at Barstow based on phone numbers found on papers in the glove box. There is an Issue Release Document (1348-1A) that shows the vehicle as ship from W905MX and ship to SZ3199.

I assume this truck is so old it has slipped to oblivion in the data base or perhaps the serial number was considered as including the M220 ~thus;

Number stamped on left frame rail near steering box- 1Q8720Q4 also stamped below - 5/4/68

I was going to complete the SF-97 with the 1Q8720Q4 as the VIN, but wanted to verify with you.

CARNAC: with some help from wsucougarx I was able to locate the VIN info on my deuce from the previous owner asking you. (its in my signature) I noticed the usage miles was 16197 is original miles?? Is that the original total miles? I noticed many other VINs you checked have significantly higher mileage. The deuce now shows around 19000. thanks.

M101A1 Cargo Trailer Identification

I just picked up a M101A1 Cargo Trailer and all the identification plates have been removed except one which identifies it as US Army. 6F7901 is stamped on the trailer tongue and is the only identification besides the NSN number which was provided by Government Liquidation.
