I have used the deuce bobbers around the farm for a few years and they have been adequate tools but this weekend I used a 5 ton to deal with some downed trees from the storm.

All I can say is WOW... Just WOW! One of the root balls was taller than me! These trucks are in a completely different category. Impressed does not cover it.

The Michelin XZLs did well in the South Texas gumbo. Pulled good and cleaned good too.

The Caterpillar mixed with the 7 speed allison (yes Cat and 7 speed) is a good match. There is no high or low range so I just put it in 1st and let the tires dig in.

Forgot a special Thanks

I forgot to add a special thanks to Mr. Tim for selling me a great genny. I ran it to power a polesaw to trim limbs ~12 feet up to make a path to get to the back pasture.

Thanks Tim!

is that 7 speed and cat from a lmtv variant? where did you get the transmission computer? or did it come with the donor vehicle etc? I know those trucks have an integrated transfer set up as well.

came with it

This truck was reworked by AM General to compete for the MTVR program. It came with the FMTV power train.

Richard, truer words have never been said. I have a Mk58 Navy mg mount on the back of the tailgate for mgs. Here is my Pop shooting a spade grip M16.

Upper

Craig at Tactical Innovations makes the upper. It is called the AM-15 but I do NOT recommend it. I ended up getting a refund (less my shipping to and from to trouble shoot it) because it would not run without drama. I switched back to a 5.56 upper with q/c barrels.

Truthfully, there are no 22lr mgs that I would tie too much $ into. The nature of the beast is a dirty and low power round. If you want to shoot a lot and not spend much cash on ammo look into the 7.52x54r conversions for the 1919.

I am paying 3.8 cents per round for 22lr and 19 cents per round for 7.62x54r. Range time is spent shooting instead of working on the guns.

well my guy who makes them into water trucks does that. i lost touch with him. but when you get the cab just sit it on the chassis and figure out how high you want it etc, do the mounts from the same thickness as the stock cab mounts and put rubber in between when there fabricated. you need the stock gauges the shifter tower the stock one works.
