If I lived a little closer I would be happy to do it for about $200 plus fuel. However, my closest house to Ft. Meade is the one in Alabama, and it is 736 miles away. If you have a pickup truck, or access to one, have you thought about buying or renting a tow dolly. I bought one a few years ago for $650, and it has towed all 6 of my CUCVs home for me, including one that had the shop-van box on the back with generator and air compressor on board. The tow dolly I have is made by Steil, and was about $1700 brand new. The M1008 front hubs clear the inside of the fender wells on it by about an inch on each side. This setup is a lot less weight to haul than a typical car-hauling trailer, and it does not require a registration tag either, so all-in-all, it is a great setup. I have a 2006 Chevy 2500HD with a Duramax 6.6L diesel and the Allison T1000 transmission with transgo shift kit I installed about a year ago. The whole setup is perfect for towing CUCVs at about 70-80 MPH and still getting 13 MPG.
I know this doesn't help you get your CUCV home, but if you get addicted like most of us have, gaining the ability to recover your MV on your own is a must.
