I have a question that I have not yet seen addressed here......

While there are many discussions of powerplant changes IN the Deuce....
Gassers
Multi-Fuel (M35A2)
Cat Diesel (M35A3)
I have yet to see/hear any discussions about.....

Has anyone (as a manufacturer or a private individual) ever used the Multi-Fuel engine (Herc, White, Continental, etc.) FROM a Deuce to power anthing else??

Vehicle or stationary applications??

I'd love to hear about your unique applications. And remember:

I've always wondered how well they would do in a bulldozer. Id suspect they are overpowered for some smaller dozers, but I'm thinking of like a d6-ish sized dozer it would fit good.

A friend of mine put one in a tracked cable crane at their families marina. He loved the engine, he is the best diesel mechanic in our area. Now him & his dad our on the outs, so he out of the marina. Needless to say I'm not welcome there either to take a picture. So don't give me "this thread is worthless with out pics!" He did give me the parts manual for the engine.

jollyroger, Oliver Tractors in the 50's and 60's used a modified LDS Engine, and there are many interchangeable parts still available for those tractors. Also, there is a tractor racing club that exclusively races Olivers, with a Rossamaster injection pump, even currently.

Hope this helps.

Were the Olivers MULTI-FUEL or did they leave the those components off?

I'm not sure what the power-to-weight ratio is for these engines (I'm sure it could be found here if I searched for it) but I'm sure there are MANY applications for them. I had not considered "go-carts". I'm imaging a modified Pontiac Fiero with that thought.

I guess I could use the engine, tranny, transfer case and only the front axle from a Deuce and modify my 1990 Ford Probe's front-wheel-drivetrain.... Visibility through the windshield would definitely be a problem.

Some of the diesel forums were a bust. I'm now interested with some of the applications I've heard here. Thinking from what I know of the theory of operations the multi is pretty close to a ford 300 6cyl in power. That said I've seen those engines in almost anything.
