The Norman area Blue Star Mothers would like to have a Military Truck to ride in for the parade. They have registered and just need a vehicle or 2. I'm not sure if I can make it. Can any other Oklahoma Convoy members help out!!! Please let me know ASAP. Thanks, below are the details.

Parade Rules

The parade will begin lining up at 8:30 A.M. Saturday, December 11th
at the east parking lot of Norman High School. Enter the parade area from
Kansas and Pickard, northeast of the football stadium.
The parade will start promptly at 10:00 A. M. Please have all your
participants in place and ready.
All participants will be issued a line-up
number. Please print the number
on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper and post it visibly on right front side
of entry so that it may easily be seen by parade judges, announcers and
officials.
Maintain approximately 25 ft. between entries.
New for ’10, entries will be judged while continuing to move.
The
parade must remain moving for safety reasons.
Do not stop your
float/vehicle on the railroad track or in front of judges’ stand.

Do not stop your
vehicle/float on the parade route.

DO
NOT THROW CANDY / ITEMS - this
is a city ordinance and will be strictly enforced by the officials working
the parade. All candy must be
handed out at curbside only.

Entries with children will be required to have
an adequate number of adults to insure safety -1 adult for every 3-5
children.

NO
ENTRIES SHALL HAVE OR DISPLAY A LIVE SANTA DURING THE PARADE. The Parade Committee will provide the Santa
Claus for this special event.

If your entry includes horse(s) or other large
animals, you will be placed towards the end of the parade. Please have the animals diapered or
provide necessary clean up.

Winners will be announced in Sunday’s Norman
Transcript and the award may be picked up at Copelin’s on Main Street.

The Norman
Christmas Holiday Parade committee will not be held responsible for accidents
resulting in injury to participants and/or damage to entries.

Common
sense and good judgment are expected.

Will be unable to attend (distance & time factors), but would like to comment....

The NO STOPPING provision seems completely counterintuitive to MANY SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS AND POTENTIALS. Vehicles in parades should be REQUIRED to IMMEDIATELY STOP at the very first indication of ANY problem.

Not my rules just copied them from the info site. However I'm pretty sure that in an emergency situations it is permissible to stop and highly encourage. Stopping rule was most likely establish to keep the flow going barring any emergencies.

M1075 and myself had kicked around the idea of our December Convoy for that day. I posted it but have had little response.

Maybe we can go to the Parade and then have our Convoy in the Norman area.

I didn't see a post for the Convoy but I got the PM. If it's a go I plan to bring my M1009. It's probably not what the Blue Star Mothers want to ride in for a parade but I wouldn't mind running as a support vehicle. A parade and a Convoy in the same day sounds great to me.

I'd be glad to (troops seats and no top to wrestle with) but it's just a bit too far down the pike...........

Though to be in a parade in Norman with MU Tiger Paws on the doors might well make it worth while.......

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the help on this, I would have done it but my weekends are running out before I deploy.

The line-up starts at 0830 in the Norman High School East Parking lot. Parade starts at 1000.

The Mothers aren't picky but if we could have seats for them that would would be great. You guys PM me your phone numbers and I'll pass it on to Carol (Contact for the Mothers).

I will be at the Edmond Parade, hope to see you there.

I guess I'll be driving the Santa Express.

I just talked to the Blue Star Mothers contact and we should have 18 riders. She was very excited about the support for the Mothers.

The parade will begin lining up at 8:30 A.M. Saturday, December 11th at the east parking lot of Norman High School.
Enter the parade area from Kansas and Pickard, northeast of the football stadium.
The parade will start promptly at 10:00 A. M. Please have all your participants in place and ready.
