I think thats the one I changed ... actually pretty sure ... I changed it to the 24v ... but I ll go to NAPA and get the 12v ... Anything else that I should look for while I am there or get from NAPA that needs to deff be replaced do to putting the wrong part in ?

Thanks,

Putting in a new relay with a 12V coil should allow the glow plug controller card to actuate the relay sending voltage from the top/feed side to the bottom/load side of the power terminals.

You should be able to measure 10V to 15V from the bottom/load side power terminal to ground when you first turn the key on with a cold engine.

I think your fine. (I do the same modification to mine).

So one last dumb question from the newbie. I assume that the GPs are supposed to be supplied with 12Vs. The set up on my m1009 with the jumper from the 12v bus to the GP relay aways supplies 12v to the GPs. SO in replacing my Gps I use standard GPs or their a direct replacement. Is that correct.

You need to use 12v glow plugs. That is what they used stock and if you convert. Same GPs. I suggest AC60G AC Delco

Hope I didn't make a mistake. JUst ordered some from ebay and the advert was they were the direct replacement for the original GM part number. The add said these won't swell like the old ones. They are 12v and have the small thin spade. They were $8 a piece for them. $68 shipped. His add says they are the direct replacement for the AC13G which is obsolete.

If you ordered Wellmans, they will swell.

Post a pic or a brand or a pat number.

Sounds like a swellman 070. Listen to Doghead, get the AC60Gs and be happy.

Just got home and opened the box. Ok The eight individual boxes are black and in large blue letters say diesel Rx. The part number is DRX 00070. Sounds like I just bought 8 spares for the tool bow swellmans. Oh well off to Advance auto for AC60G's. Lesson learned. Although I can't find wellman written anywhere on the GP. Just has DieselRx on the GP as well as the box.

Those were the same ones I bought for my first set. They all burned out on the second time starting. The system was working before I changed the original glow plugs. One of the original glow plugs was open and one had half the normal resistance reading but the others were fine.

Since then my glow plug controller tested good. I have not tested the original relay, I could hear it working at the time of the failure but it could have stuck in the closed position. Another thing could be the original terminals, not all of them felt tight when connected to the new glow plugs.
