OK, managed to remember to check my ether cylinder. As I recalled, it is exactly the same size as a propane torch bottle, both diameter and height. The threads looked visually the same as well, though I didn't try to screw a torch head on my ether cylinder as I didn't want to take a chance of breaking the valve or doing something else really stupid (like being found dead because it started leaking and I could not get out in time!)

A bit of other information (such as provides 225 to 350 starts, etc.) but the main part number from the maker is LP535, which does respond to a Google search. Could not cross reference it with my CarQuest terminal, but not to say it cannot be gotten there, say from a different maker for example.

I am trying to set up my 06, and thought about wiring through a curret panel. I would like to to have both 3ph as well as 1ph. The panel would have the breakers for both ph"s. Has anyone done this.

Nice gen i am thinking about on of those but i would have to get a m35a2 first to pull it home although i think about getting every thing that i read about that is od green i cant make up my mind.

Any pickup truck can easily tow this generator. I have a 3/4 ton and it was not a problem.

Schwenk you don't necessarily need a deuce to pull a genset home. I used my 3/4 ton Dodge Cummins:

Here's mine with an pintle adapter plate which I highly suggest. Makes dismounting the trailer much easier.

Does anyone know how to "flip the tongue" on the trailer so that the pintle sits 5" lower?

Just turn the pintle 180 degrees?

I have my MEP-004 run into a customized transfer switch. The switch was originally 6 circuits off a standard 240/120 volt generator setup. I changed it to be 3 sets of two circuits for three phase. The conversion process was trivial, a few new wires, and a proper three phase plug to replace the original single phase one. So when on utility power, I'm single phase, when on the generator, I'm three phase, reasonably balanced.

If there is some interest I can do an article on how to do the modifications to the transfer switch. The switch itself is available at Home Depot, and lots of online suppliers, it is manual and simplistic however. Since my generator set is not connected full time, an automatic switch was meaningless to me.

To flip the lunette eye (is that spelled right?) you remove the big nut then pull the eye out. Oh, guess what, it is a tapered and tight fit! I used a high-lift jack on the rear (put the nut on until it was even with the end of the threads to protect the threads, then the jack to the trailer's cross member. Put pressure on the eye (there was a good 1/2 inch gap between the nut and the mating surface. Once as much pressure as I could with the jack was applied, I whacked it (the eye) with a big hammer and it popped out.

Then just turn it over and stick it back in. I did put a bit of neversize on the taper and threads however.

The bummer is that it is still about 1/2" too high still! Even with the landing leg all the way retracted I can't swing the leg up out of the way (or back down when unhitching) without using that ever handy high-lift jack. I either have to extend my hitch a tiny bit, or figure out a way to get the landing leg lower.

It seems the easy solution would be to carry a couple of thick planks to back the truck onto.

Isaac is right! Carry a couple 2x6 or 2x8 planks and you'll be set.
