Just like the title says Im going to buy a deuce soon its already bobbed and i have a friend that owes me a free paint job (long story) so im debating on what color

Im thinking maybe a

1)highgloss charcoal grey
2) flat black
3) High gloss black

im also told clear coat on a deuce is sort of a bad idea

im planning on rhino lining the interior and installing mastercraft style suspension seats

So if you want to keep the truck in a collectible condition you do need to go with one of the three colors the General has suggested. He knows what he is talking about when it comes to military colors. If you want to try and civilian-ize it then the choices you are presenting will work. However those non-military color choices will hurt your re-sale value. Collectors like me will not want the truck since we will have to paint it to get it back to it's authentic state. So depending on how much you bought it for you could be cutting its value in half by painting it the way you are talking about.

Good luck!

As I type this, I see you have just 6 posts to your credit, young WeedWacker (remember the old Kung Fu shows?) I also see you joined this website in just MARCH or this year... You have much to learn, apprentice.

I would recommend that you slow down and bury your nose in the many forums and threads of the SteelSoldiers website.

A frequently say to newbies:

The West Texas Detachment of the SS welcomes you aboard :D Find a bunk, stow your gear, and prepare to get underway :driver:
While you're laying in your bunk.... read, Read, READ ! ! !

And again... W E L C O M E ! ! !

Well I've read alot every night in fact since way earlier than march I only recently made an account. I do see plenty of anti noon posts on here though.

Also it's not to be a collectible. Just a custom mud truck Besides I would think bobbing a truck in general would make it not as collectible since it was never offered that way

Are you going to register it as an antique? Some states require you to keep military vehicles in military colors to obtain an antique tag. (some, not all)

It's not gonna have special tags. PA disnt require it it's an option. Most likely it is just gonna be flat black

I was just toying with a few ideas. I'd like urban camo tho

I thought for sure USAF talking about Kung FU was going to say "Grasshopper"
rofl

Grasshopper <---> WeedWhacker . . . . It's just a name. Either one would cause even the toughest blade of grass to quivver.

WeedWhacker seems to fit just a little better here. I didn't want to infer that the guy was an insect... 'nuff said.

When you come right down to it - If a guy owns a truck and wants to devalue it, or insult the soldiers it could have otherwise honored, or if he just wants to run it off a cliff..... it's his truck - :grd:

On the other hand - If a guy comes here, creates a thread asking for advise, gets some reasonably founded critique, and then feels insulted.... Well.... 6 posts shows lots of room for growth. IMHO

Compare that to....
Put on your pink silk paisley party shirt, walk into a biker-bar, and hope to make it out alive. aua Some things are just GONNA HURT.

These vehicles don't have any resale value, so paint it any color you want. Seriously : you buy it, recover it, repair it, improve it and get laughed at when you try to recover that cost when selling it. I'm painting my CUCV red...and nobody but me has to like it 8<)

Example : I have $13,000 into my deuce...wanna buy it ?

Paint it how ya like but honestly I'd keep it the color flat unless your doing some serious body/prep work. These trucks arnt generally pristine in condition after years of "use" to put it gently. Gloss anything is just gonna stick out and if it's a mud truck who wants to deal with the maintenance of a gloss paint. It's no surprise the off road crowds are just bed lining their whole rigs.

Only shiny trucks I see are wannabes... Besides nothing else about a deuce (in any form) is clean, comfortable, or flashy except show trucks. The rest of us just make them a tad more user friendly so we can play that much longer.

Today return to the fire station in the utility after picking the chiefs son from school (1st grade) even as young as he is asked why there was a army truck ( my deuce) sitting in the parking lot. Surprised the h*** outta me he got that correct.

Anyway I like the original colors but as others stated, your truck, your money, do what makes YOU happy because you will be the one looking and driving it. Not us

And on a side note whatever you do decide to do, we like pics here!!!!!! So remember the camera!

well im getting the truck for 4 grand so really i dont think it can go south of that and i had actually considered rhino lining the entire exterior

i guess i just see so much potential with a truck like this i start thinking directions it could go.

as for insulting the troops im sorry if the paint color of a truck is offensive... im pretty sure i saw a pink one here somewhere

i wonder the reaction ill get when installing an air to water intercooler bigger injectors turn up the pump and install a banks sidewinder turbo

An important question.

Who did the bobbing and how was it done?

What rear springs? Did they weld on the frame.
Was it a good job? That is probably more important then what colour it is.

If you're going to do that to a LDT465....

What we think doesn't matter.

What the engine thinks.... Let's just say I predict an EXPLOSIVE reaction.

Once again, I suggest you start really READING the information available here before you KILL your machine.
