Taxes on vehicles in Texas

Looking at my invoice for the latest deuce, I misread it and thought they were applying vehicle tax. Which is a no-no.

But that got me curious. Turns out, they DID apply Texas sales tax of $106.36 (8.1250%) to a deuce I bought out of Ft. Sam back in July of 2009.

And you know what? Dammit, I want my $106 back.

How should I go about this?

You will not get it back, period. I fought that battle already for $160 just this past Feb. You'll get a credit up to the fees incurred for title/registration in Texas but any more funds you paid for tax you get a "credit" in GL's good old home state of Arizona. (Lot of good that does us..)

Texas state sales tax is %6.25, so you were overcharged by %1.85, not worth the hassle to fight. What that really means is that you have pre paid your taxes and you will only need to pay for the registration and title fees at the tax office
