m108 brake parts

I am new to the site and think I am posting in the right section, please correct me if I am wrong. I am going to be doing some work on a 1953 studebaker m108 thathas been converted to a fire truck. The thing starts and runs fine just has no brakes. Where can i get brake parts for this thing "master cyl, air pac, wheel cyl".

This forum section is for the M135/M211 deuces. Even though your deuce is really old, it would technically be for the deuce section.

I have had good luck finding brake parts on ebay. Other choices are Saturn Surplus, Memphis Equipment, Clark Truck Parts, White Owl truck parts and others I am probably forgetting.

Brakes are standard M35 stuff. Any surplus dealer will have them.

I don't have any of the bed parts it was purchased after being coverted to a fire truck. So the m108 designation is for a wrecker but as a straight truck it is a m35a2 "is that correct"
I appreciate the suggestions as of where to find parts and have been helpfull thank you

Yup, call it an m35. A2 means its a multifuel. Looks like yours is still a gasser? Whats that thing on the rear hub?

I would guess the same thing. Bell only clanks when the truck goes in reverese.

That pretty well kills any odd/rare parts. It's just a gasser M35 now. Should still have the reinforced frame and overload bar on the springs

Reinforced frame? overload bar? I thought the only deuces with reinforced frames were the M36's. and what about overload bar on the springs? Does that mean its rated for more than 10K on the road??

How many gallon tank is on the back?

It's not rated any more, because the crane is so darn heavy. 20,000lbs empty, 3500lbs cargo on road, none off road.

The frame and springs are only things different from a M35. The rear axles also have a different part# than a M35, but no one knows why. They look the same.

Think there is a couple of M35 style trucks with reinforced frames, don't remember what they are.

The M36 and any other long wheel base truck will have the reinforced frames. It only a "L" shape pice riveted to the frame. The bad part is the "L" is on the bottom, so water and junk can get betwen the frame and this pice and rust out the frame. I would not get an old long wheel base truck thinking I could load it heavyer than a regalar truck. The reinforced frame is there because of the longer span between the front and rear axles not for more load rating.

The deuce dump trucks ( M342A2 ) also have a reinforced frame. I believe it is called "fish-plating". It is basically additional flat steel plate that is riveted to the c-channel stock frame.

I am not sure about the older gas deuce dumps (M47, M59), but I would suspect they have it as well. Anyone confirm?


Kenny, I thought you had one of those M108A2 plates also?
