brake warning light

My warning light is on most all the time. What I've done is removed the power steering pump and thus drained the system and refilled. Replaced the rear brake lines at the same time. Lines are bled, and reservoir filled, but the light is on. Need to know what to do.

There is a rod in the proportioning valve that needs to be recentered . Did you bleed the fronts too ? that will usually allow it to recenter itself . You may neeed to remove the switch from the proportioning valve and recenter the rod with a very small screwdriver.

The tech manual tells you to install a "keeper" to stop the rod from moving during bleeding. Sometimes the rod won't recenter and the proportioning valve must be replaced.

You can temp turn off the lamp by removing the wire from the proportioning valve.
