2011 - The Gathering IX

Not much traffic this year, on here or the GT Site.

Oh well...Proud is ready, the crew is ready and most of the folks we know have said they will be there...with or without a truck.

I REALLY need this time away from my boss...he's a friggin slave driver.

Leaving early in the morning for Rogersville TN. Saturday I'll hook up with some old Friends and that Ace truck, Sunday we'll head for Campbellsville KY. for a couple days and then on to the Gathering in Louisville KY, 11 days with old Friends and gun trucks, that and a live fire at Knob Creek I only hope to survive it all----------Driver ( the other Larry )

Reading on the Guntruck Site it looks like the 523rd will be there in force.
We (CAMO)/Proud won't make it to Sammy's or Calvin's AOs... sure wish we could.

We plan to SP Columbus in time to arrive in L-ville by 09:00hrs and roadmarch to the live fire.
We will be tired, hungry, smelly, you know...ready to "lock, cock, and rock"!

My flight gets in at 1130 thursday and I'd like to make that run to the Creek..!! I'll be stickin around till late sunday afternoon.

The Guntrucks are moving, heading to the assembly area in KY.

Maybe there won't be 10 Guntrucks this year, but the men who served on em are headed that way...along with the women that supported em at home. That's what important.

Getting Ready

It’s early in the morning,
As you catch the diesel smell
The Gun trucks loading ammo
For another ride thru heII

Trying to keep there spirits up
Knowing what they might go thru

As the CO has just told them
Charley was seen up near Hwy one
But some how they have lost them
Be extra careful on this run

And also due to weather
You’ll be mostly on your own

Air escort won’t be flown

But still they have their mission
To protect and resupply
And nothing will detour them
Knowing well, that some could die

They finish up the op checks
The radio, uncover the guns
As one of the gunners whispers

You see they all are junkies
There high, they know it’s true
On something called adrenalin
It’s what helps them make it thru

Now its time to join the convoy
As they pull out thru the gate
You can see their faces changing
As they go to meet their fate.
