I got a mermite can last month, it is in good shape but the paint wasn't the greatest. So I got out the stripper and went to work.

Great looking job there! It's a shame they made them out of aluminum, instead of steel. They dent easily and due to their shape and design it's hard to repair the dents. But what ya gonna do...

Dents might be preferable to rust.

I had the labels professionally reproduced and the paint is a latex enamel from ACE hardware. Dents are something you have to accept with mermites, this one is good, my others are very used.

Nice job on the resto. I just found one locally that is pristine, with all inserts, 1959 dated (so Nam appropriate). I'll have to get a shot or two when I get the chance. Was a few $$ more than yours, I'm sure....
