6.2's and 6.5's in HMMWV's only have a single 24v alternator.I have no experience with the GM products for the government, but was there not a 6.5L replacement for the 6.2L for the humvees? If so I expect they have continued the serpentine system that accommodated a twin alternator 24 volt system.
If not, why not modify the twin alternator system and take the truck to a complete, 100% 24v system, like a Landcruiser or Land Rover? Personally find the idea attractive for its simplicity and elegance. My opinion, your mileage may vary.

Two batteries connected in either parallel (for a 12v set up) or in series for a 24v system does not require "isolaters and such". I thank you for informing me of the different configurations of the CUCV and Humvee, and I adhere to my belief that a serpentine belt system with one alternator of either voltage is a project completely worthwhile!A straight 24v system in a CUCV isn't a good idea. Since most of teh truck is still 12v it only draws from one battery. You can't properly charge them with one 24v alternator without resorting to battery isolaters and such.
