Replace all your M35 weatherstripping

I just picked up a roll of this foam at home depot yesterday, in the isle where they sell doors, trim, springs, hasp locks, etc. Only I got it for under $4 a roll. This exact size will work to replace all the weatherstripping on my GMC cab. I see no reason why it couldn't be used on the M35 series as well. $25 should do an entire cab. That includes the windshields, under windshield gasket, doors and door glass.

Does the company make any claims as to whether it is UV resistant, or oil resistant?
I'd hate to see someone go to a lot of trouble to put this on, only to find that it starts to crumble
apart after a few months. It sure would be nice if it were good quality.

Well the good thing about the M35's is that you can still get the "correct" weatherstripping. (not that cheap though)

Used the same thing on two 69 Cutlass Convertible between the top bow and windshield frame, stopped leaks for years,, only exposed to UV about 40% of the time. Worked great for 6 years , still on the cars after I sold them as far as I know.

You figure only the outside edges will be exposed to any UV rays, even then depending on how your vehicle is parked it's not getting light all day. I suspect it should last 6+ years as plewhiskey said above. M35 weatherstripping is available, but I've seen it run over $300 for an entire replacement set. That's six good tires for me.

Was the original stuff just rubber? The only thing that concerns me with that stuff is I heard some of it can absorb water in the foam and keep wet and cause rust or freeze in the winter? Maybe it isn't the same stuff, it was just something that my dad told me when I was thinking about using some of that stuff for door weather strip on my 1940 Ford Pickup. I'm definitely not saying that that stuff is bad or anything, but that's what my dad said and that was probably a long long time ago when he used it. We have better newer space age materials thrse days! Hahaha.

I used some of that stuff on my truck, but as a pad on the side hoods so when they are closed they rest on this stuff so they don't squeak and rattle. I am sure since it is a weather strip that it should hold up to the weather for a while. Mine has only been on since I got the truck in May, but it is still nice and soft.

Even if it doesn't last as long as the real stuff it is cheep enough to redo every couple of years if you keep the truck that long.

You need to buy foam with a skin on it. (closed cell) on the other hand, rubber bulb seals with grippers work great for the door to cab.
