Adding A/C and powersteering

Expensive for both.

I have seen power steering kits advertised from $1200-2400.00. And I would not get AC unless I had a hard top.

Air assist power steering--already available in a fairly easy to install kit. 2000.00 give or take as mentioned. Does help alot according to the threads I have read about it, but not as nice of PS as hydraulic.

Hydraulic---If done properly could really make a deuce steer nice and easy. Nobody has put together a kit yet to my knowledge. You would have to research that esp here in the SS database and round up the parts to do it. Most systems that have been done are based on a 5 ton multifuel PS pump.

I have no clue on the A/C ..There is a few out there that have added it.

I would think that a regular old Vintage Air aftermarket A/C kit would work fine. You might need to add some insulation to that cab and seal the various openings a bit better.

So even the Red Dot and the roof mount comm units still need a compressor driven by the belt on the engine and a bunch of high and low side lines fabbed up, ****. I think the issue with going aftermarket is if they can handle 24v which the RD can.

The route I will take is a roof-mounted RV type A/C unit powered by an inverter generator. The RV units are stand alone without the need for a front-mount compressor. The only line going to the A/C unit is the power cord from the generator. These new inverter generators have remotes with them so you can start the generator from inside your house, cool the deuce off, and then get in and drive off. Figure ~10 hours of cool A/C on 3 gallons of gasoline.

Largest RV type A/C unit available (with electric heat strip): ~$650
Inverter Generator: ~$2000

It sounds like a lot of money, but the generator will be used for a variety of tasks.

Call Boyce equipment in Ogden UT. Mark has put together a bolt on ps kit I saw it about a month ago very clean looking, sorry I didnt ask the price as I already have it. It runs on a chevy power steering pump if I remember right.

Did you guys ever do your a/c setups? I'm looking into the nostalgic a/c systems. I'm adding a seperate 12v alt/batt setup to run the a/c and other stuff. Seems like the universal NAP setup would work with an under dash mount evap, somewhere around $6-700. Tint and sealing up the truck and insulation is a must.
