I definately would agree in many respects but the Russians were pretty good at building trucks that could handle their so called "roads". I have the Ural and have been really happy with the overall quality , fit and finish sucks but then again it's a monster miltary beast. I would rate...
The MAZ trucks are killer, but not road legal sadly. The MKZT 3 I think is a super heavy hauler and I had tried to get info for a Northern Canada field services company (sortof like Ice Road trucks I think). It took three months to get a response out of the factory sales unit then they...
Duncan - contact Erwin Overbosch at E.T. Coevorden He has sold me two Tatra's and has good working knowledge of their complex operating system (air). He is somewhere in the Northeastern corner of the country. Contact off he site if you want some further help contacting him. Best of...
OM352 Parts
Jim Ince, at Eurotech is very good, Sean at EuroTruck has a really good parts department and seems to be building continually. Contact Steve Dempsey parts@eurotruck-importers.com.
Other parts sources are Scott at Expedition Imports (not sure on his stock of rebuild kits)...
Has there been any thought to an advertising section/area. I would gladly spend a little change on an ad here. Granted I don't want to see pop ups or the annoying sidebar Google "Let me Tell you What I think You Want" ads but a nicely done ad section would work out well.
I guess I see your point in a way as it took me 8 years to break down and buy a Eastern bloc truck. The first was a Tatra , which I just found to be spectacular in terms of engineering and design. Quality was on par with the same era from Germany really. I am sure Dean can back me up on...
I love the MAN 630's - Always wanted one but was nervous about the low top speed (75 kmh ?).
If you want to export to the USA it shouldn't be a problem at all. It is older than 25 years so your buyer wouldn't have any trouble. It should be cut and dry, the box on teh back would make it...
Good advice from Mike.
You can find a 406 or a Case 406 by watching many of the State and local auctions. Quite a few states purchased 406's back in the 70's and then just let them go in the 90's and beyond. For example my state , Vermont, sold a 406 they used a test core drill rig...
I think there is something about using the OEM MB stuff as it had a special lubricant. Jim Ince is a great source but you can get it locally at any Freightliner dealer as well. I had a 416 3 years ago and it hated to start in the cold. I finally purchased a webasto coolant heater - what...
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Kraz 255
my Ural takes forever and a day to inflate the tires (only 6) from say 15 psi up to 40. I would guess at least 25-30 minutes. the Ural is strange you can control the air flow from within the cab but you have to get out to open the cocks at the wheel, seems like...
Re: RE: Tatra with new cab design..
Finding someone in the KNOW when it comes to Tatra is impossible these days. The ATC guys are just about gone. The only market here is for S&S (the fire chassis co) Wildlands ULTRA XLT truck.
The cab does look like about 5 other trucks included...
Tatra and Oshkosh had a "let me take your for a ride" relationship about 10 years ago maybe. Tatra actually gave them three trucks for testing. The word from the Terex (former owners of Tatra) is that Oshkosh basically took advantage of Tatra. The only reason Terex purchased Tatra was to...
RE: Re: Man Drives Tank to Work....ok it
I love the Ferrets - I wanted one pretty badly (there are quite a few with Chris Muys in Belgium - cheap too) until I heard some of the mechanical horror stories. Apparently they are prone to gearbox failure and it is a pre-select type gearbox. That...
I would have to agree, for 813 parts ATH provides great service. I have purchased from several other companies in the Czech republic and after a few really bad experiences with airfreight (like $1000 bill on a $300 order ! ouch) I found ATH to be very helpful.
As for tires - I am sure...
RE: Re: RE: Kraz 255
They look alot like the Dodge trucks from WWII. they are just huge though, I think at 8 feet (actually 8 feet 2 inches) they might be considered a wide load here in the US, at least in some states. It has kept me from finding one. The Yamaz 238 motor is pretty...
The new Oshkosh prototype is basically a Tatra 815 as reverse engineered in many ways by Oshkosh. For several years there was a strong competition between Terex (parent of Tatra AS at that time) and Oshkosh for the LMMV (?) Marine 20 ton truck contract (something like 1.5 billion). There...
RE: Re: RE: Tatra
You can buy a Tatra 813 in fair condition from the Czech rep for around 10,000 - 12,000 Euro = roughly $15,500 - $18,500 Problem is shipping. The trucks are 75 cubic meters x $60 per meter = $5000 just for ocean. When all is said and done you will pay at least $7500...
RE: Re: RE: Kraz 255
A few weeks ago I got a peek at a Kraz255B up close. What a Monster !! The tires must be close to 48" high at least. It has the usual Soviet Era truck features CTIS, monster diesel etc. This truck was imported into Canada for a collector there from...
Richard Moore is a very interesting fellow and he has some great trucks. His videos are legendary. His prices a bit high but his trucks are very clean and ready to drive.
The trucks in the photos are Maz I think. i recall hearing about them but they are monsterous. Funny the Soviets...
