A friend of mine noted that it had only been in service a short 23 years! That thing isn't even paid for yet! Even Deuces stick around longer than that!
Yeah, but it's stamped numbers. I found a code deciper website for it but the number will only give me the date it was made and stuff. Still need to do that. Will post up when I got the info.
I was kinda eyballin' the 11-million pound lot...in the form of a 452.8-foot cruiser! For $50!!!...at least that's the price right now.

It looks a lot like the one on the 10-tons posted here:

Probably way to big for the front of a deuce...but in the back, up through the bed?...I'm trying to talk a guy from work into buying one too (I don't wanna be the...
Looks like the factory brackets move the front bumper forward 10 or so inches...I'm not sure. Since I'm not too concerned with approch angle that should be fine. With that kind of room I should be able to fit it. The winch will fit between the framerails...just barely. I think the main problem...
So the brackets not only move the bumper forward, they lift it too? Dang. Those look nothing like what I had planned. But my winch is different too. Thanks for the pics. They do give me some ideas.

Under all the coats of paint it is OD green. What did it originally come on and will it work on my Deuce? It's a Braden Winch. Use the oil container as a size refrence. Any idea the pound capacity? It looks very different from the Deuce winches I've seen...like it's an older model maybe. Is it...
Yeah, I resoldered mine myself. Then I tried to fix the broken rienforcement straps that broke loose...bad idea. I mean it leaks less now than it did but I wouldn't really trust it to drive cross country unles I brought a lot of water with me just in case. Around town...no problem. A new...
Diesel Power Challenge at LACR in Palmdale, CA. The Macetti (sp) brothers that run The Terminator are a riot. It was loaded light that day for the built 3/4 and 1-ton trucks that were running. I went last just for kicks and grins. I ran in 6x6, high-range, second gear. The deuce would easily do...
Oops, my bad. Looks like the cable would run kinda funny if you used it in front. I guess you could remove the auto tensioner and winder. Probably better with a boom out back.
I found these near me. Look brand new. Anyone ever messed with one of these. Looks kinda big...1,220 pounds, and the PTO input is on the wrong side but that's still possible to overcome. Sooo, too big?

I can't make out the wording before the last series of numbers above but the number itself is readable.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
Here is a pic of the alternator in question...
Ha! Sounds similar to mine. Check the upper radiator mount (the little clevis). The one that bolts to the front of the block. I bet it was loose, mine was. These things seem to vibrate so much the only way to keep the radiator together was to actually mount it directly to the engine and its...
Cool! Thanks for all the info! It gave me something to search off of. It looks like the military pays $340 for the radiators new. Much more resonable than what I was quoted. I found a GL ad with a few of 'em. I think I found a Modine part number too. I'll post up when I find out if it's the same...
Both of them seem to have crapped out at the same time. I've tested the alternator as per the duece manuals and the radiator is well, fairly leaky. I got a quote from Memphis Equiptment for what seemed like way too much. The alternator alone was like $800! Is there a Napa number that bolts in or...
