    M1078 air leak behind grill

Resurrecting a VERY old thread... Just FYI this is the exhaust port for both the park/trailer and the brake pedal valves (when they release). The connections are made just behind the heater. These are the only two things connected to this fitting and it is NOT a one way valve just open to...

    LMTV oil pan gasket change

I need to do this at some point as well. Looks like removing the trans cooler lines is a must but I don't see why you would need to drain coolant unless the trans cooler has to be removed for the repair or if there is a water pump hose clearance issue. Draining the coolant is really no big...

m1078 to A1 driveshaft parts source

Also the "D" upgrade switched out bearing cup straps for the bolt on bearing caps as well as a 4" diameter shaft vs the 3" original so pretty quick to spot and verify the fix in addition to the big D on the data plate. I read that entire test and evaluation report a while ago. As I recall the...

LMTV - Sound Proofing & Insulation Mods (Post Your Proofing)

Hey mkcoen, I did the driver's door previously when I first got my truck since the window was broken so I had access to put a couple of pieces on the door. However, I didn't clean it very well so it didn't stick all that great. I will be going back into the doors to add as much as possible after...

    FMTV Fan Clutch Repair

http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?145266-Checking-the-FMTV-fan-system wyocommo, There is a detailed thread floating around that talks about troubleshooting the valve/solenoid behind the kick panel that activates the fan clutch. On my LMTV when it gets over 200 degrees, between 205 and...

    Dan's M1081 Pick-up and Build

LOL, I bought that little o-ring even before I got my truck after reading that thread! My cab lift works great but I did notice last time I raised it the little mist puff come out of the hydro unit so I am keeping an eye on it... When you do yours take pics if possible for us :)

    Dan's M1081 Pick-up and Build

No worries DanM7890 there is TONS of info in all the TMs. I downloaded all the manuals from SS but I also purchased a hard copy of the -10 from Amazon so I always have a quick reference in the truck. I have owned my 97 LMTV since last October and am always learning and figuring out new stuff...

    Headlight issue

The fuse panel diagram in the back of the cover pretty much tells you what is 24v and what is 12v. A multimeter is your Jedi tool on an LMTV too.

And its loud so that if you loose air pressure while driving there is ZERO chance you won't hear the warning... I just keep hearing protection in my truck that I throw on initially during warm-up :) One thing to mention in general, not directed at you Dan ;) , on the alarm as well as other...

    Dan's M1081 Pick-up and Build

What Shark bait and Bikeman said the alarm is your low air warning... It should shut off when you build up air pressure between 60 and 90 PSI in both tanks. I think mine shuts of in that range. I would recommend you review the -10 TM on operating instructs for the vehicle. It covers what to...

LMTV - Sound Proofing & Insulation Mods (Post Your Proofing)

For this thread I thought instead of a how to I would just post up a couple of pics of my adventure adding sound proofing to the inside of the LMTV cab and ask others to show the same. I have seen several other folks post pics of their sound proofing but I didn't see a specific thread for the...

    Wiper blade replace

LOL, Generic 19 or 20" blade from Wal Mart works perfect for a replacement wiper blade. I think they are just under $4 each.

    LMTV M1078 Tachometer

I am betting that tapping into the factory accessory switch box harness as mentioned would provide the tach signal.... FYI in the diagram of the connectors the round 4 pin 901 connector is for the heater and supplies both 12v, for the heater lights and 24v for heater power.

    Slave Jump Assistance - DONE

You can jump an LMTV with a 12v vehicle/battery and a pair of civilian jumper cables. Will take a bit of charging time and a multimeter for good measure. I did it when my truck arrived with dead batteries and I had to get it off the semi. Don't use slave cave plug, 24v there but with all 4...

    Install of,Haldex dryer

Any chance you have a pic of the bracket by itself? I would rather not drill holes into my frame. Has anyone tried to mount one with the universal bracket Suprman identified? ... oh, or maybe the OP used the bracket but can't see it in the pic. Thanks! OD

    Hub Removal/Replace

sounds like he setup a drive flange that can be unbolted and slid off the axle shaft (sun gear has splines to hold the axle shaft and welded to hub). wonder if he still filled the hubs with oil. Remember, the front hubs do not share oil with the front diff like in the rear. Thanks for the...
