Question - assistance converting air park/emergency valves to single unit

Jason, ok I am running around trying to locate fittings and you have me worried on the DOT approved front. Reread your post and absolutely not going to use barbed fitting for the lines. I have found a 3/8" compression to 1/4" NPT fitting at Home Depot but the truck fitting will not screw on to...

Question - assistance converting air park/emergency valves to single unit

Need to post another couple of pics later in the original post. Got the new valve and verified it has 1/4" NPT female fittings. However the air lines from the truck are 3/8" OD compression so a strait male to male 1/4" NPT won't work.

Question - assistance converting air park/emergency valves to single unit

ok I get it. The "DOT Fittings" are related to the push on style, as I said in my previous post, similar to the PEX stuff in plumbing. Assuming the DOT is required for safety when dealing with the nylon air hoses and the little compression fittings. But anything else seems to be strait brass NPT...

    LMTV My Custom Switch Pod

Hi steelandcanvas, Thanks for those links. I just went with automotive wiring of a few different gauges and lots of abrasion cover and wire wrap to make a mini harness for the aux stuff. 6 fuse aux panel with a separate negative bus bar. Still have the final cleanup to do and add my CB power box...

Question - assistance converting air park/emergency valves to single unit

I can't find a "DOT connectors" anywhere online. When I search on "truck air line fittings" I get a lot of hits and all the connectors and adapters are brass NPT fittings. The stock lines off the truck are plastic/nylon and have the little compression ring and female cap still on them to connect...

    LMTV Radiator Drain Petcock Replacement?

Dang. Just took a pic. It is just a 1/4" fitting with a 3/8" adapter on the radiator. I will just grab a strait one with hose fitting from AutoZone.

    LMTV Radiator Drain Petcock Replacement?

LMTV Radiator Drain Petcock Replacement - DONE I messed up my radiator drain petcock. Original one was seized so mangled it to drain radiator. Anyone have a source for a replacement? Seems hard to find one with the 90 degree drain port so I just used a generic petcock I picked up at O'Rilies...

    Dan's M1081 Pick-up and Build

That is awesome to have a verified LMTV u joint pulled with the OTC 5190A. I sent their tech email a pic and asked if the tool could be used on our trucks and they said no because of the "bolt down caps." Hilarious I am moving the tool from wish list to cart. Thanks!!! OD

New here... bunch of LMTV questions.

There are lockers available. Some folks say they have installed one but can't provide part numbers or company info so I am a non-believer on those... However, I am pretty sure Eaton makes a version of the Detroit Locker for the Rockwell rear axle. Fan-foo-goo-tastik of an automatic locker and...

Question - assistance converting air park/emergency valves to single unit

I don't have a choice. Based on the setup I am going with (secret project right now) there is not enough room to mount the two separate valves. But simplification of assembly/setup with a lot less valves seems like a win. I also agree if it aint broke don't fix it but I have to move to the newer...

LMTV Trivia - Tailgate Hold Open/Down Wires... Who Knew?

I was admiring my LMTV today and I noticed a couple of times previously, these little loop wires inside the holes under the tailgate on both sides of the truck. I hope I wasn't the only one who didn't know what they are for. I just realized what they are... They are used to latch onto one...

LMTV M1078 Adding Two Fuel or Water Can Mounts Mod - Behind Rear Wheels

Quick little write up... Had a couple lockable fuel can holders collecting dust so I found a spot behind the rear wheels and fender to mount them securely. Seemed like a good sturdy spot on top of those big steel brackets. Also tied them in at the top with some thick L brackets under the bed...
