On a 804a in prime and run, you will hear silence since it has a mechanical pump. To prime, you must unscrew the cap and pump it up until you feel resistance, then tighten the cap. You will hear the pump run in auxiliary fuel. The 804b has an electric main fuel pump. Robert

I would suspect it denotes different engines. My MEP 804A has an Isuzu engine while my 804B has a Yanmar. I remember looking at some 805 (I think) generators that had John Deere engines. I believe I remember browsing some older GL ads and those had White engines. Robert
