Advice needed - new guy with MEP004A

In addition to sand I tried coal slag which is also pretty sharp. This paint is kind of like rubber when it comes to blasting. It's soft enough that the media kind of bounces off of it. And like rubber, if you stay on it long enough, it will eventually eat thru it. There's just so much paint and...

Advice needed - new guy with MEP004A

Soooooooo much paint! When I was in the Army, many moons ago, when guys didn't have anything to do, someone would hand them a paint brush and a bucket of paint and say "go paint that Jeep". I suspect that's pretty much what happened here. "Go paint that generator". I knew there was a bunch...

Worked from daylight till 10 PM. Sandblaster not working all that great - too much damn paint! Tired as heck, will post details later...

And just to brag on how much fun I had this past weekend: And still have twice this much yet to split!

Advice needed - new guy with MEP004A

It has been pretty fun. Hopefully it'll last a long time with very few problems. Although I really won't have a whole lot of money in it when finished, I'm ready to stop spending money now. I'm a little over $2k right now, and figure by the time I buy a transfer switch, buy a fuel tank, have...

Well, hopefully the weatherman is right and we'll have a nice weekend because the sandblaster is reserved to pick up Friday afternoon. It's gonna be a blast!

More wiring done. Missed a great day to sandblast but was too busy all week to get everything set up for this weekend.

Advice needed - new guy with MEP004A

Went to the office a couple of weeks ago and plotted my schematic drawing - still not complete. I need to chose an automatic transfer switch and figure out what I'm going to do with a few alarm notification circuits before I can finish the schematic. Going to try to get some of the low voltage...

Advice needed - new guy with MEP004A

After letting the water pump soak is my friend's electrolysis tank for several day to remove rust, we reassembled the pump today. Also let the valve cover sit in the tank for a day or so. It looks much better now.

Done wiring the main alt outputs and field wires. Painted the other sides of the pieces I painted the other day. Still waiting on weather for a sandblasting party.

Visible progress: Might not work any better but it certainly looks better than this!

Advice needed - new guy with MEP004A

Almost forgot to post this but after days scouring the web for a lower radiator hose for this beast I finally gave up and went with the one the guy at the NAPA store came up with. It's not an exact match and it's a bit expensive because it has one of those internal spiral wires that keep it...

Advice needed - new guy with MEP004A

Well, I got the valve cover off. Glad I decided (Mullaney was really the deciding factor) to remove it. Damn thing has more rust on the inside than the outside. Amazing things can happen at any time. The gasket (rubberized cork) was actually in great shape and I was able to get it off in...

Advice needed - new guy with MEP004A

Toda was beautiful, 70F -ish and very little wind with low humidity so I decided since I really should paint the relay table before bolting a bunch of stuff to it I'd try out my Rustoleum thinned with acetone sprayed thru a gun. Never tried to do this before but it seems to wok just fine...
