Advice needed - new guy with MEP004A

Well, I got rid of those battery hold down studs LOL. The clear stuff came out of the secondary filter. The rusty stuff was at the very bottom of the primary filter. What was in the water separator was a bit worse.

Fuel tank is out and drained. That was a lot harder than it needed to be. Can't slide the fuel tank out till you get all the hose barbs and such removed from the tank. They won't clear the piece of channel that's welded to the skids as a mount for the generator itself. Anyway, some really...

Progress: Got the rear of the case and the control panel / box off. The fuel tank is ready to come out when I get a hose and fitting to drain it. The fitting on the drain petcock is what? 3/8" or 1/2" flare? Looks like I have about 10 gallons of weed killer in there. That should work great...

Ok, will put replacing that hose on my list if it runs ok. I should just be able to remove that plug on the skid, at the end of the oil drain tube and screw in a pipe nipple for oil changing? Just an extension so it can drain into a pan. Anyone ever try using a 24V lithium ion battery for a...

awesome info! I will do all of this to the IP. Keep the tips coming. I might not get to them immediately, but will as soon as I can. Going to concentrate on getting the fuel tank out and cleaning the filter and separator housings. Going to try to flush the fuel lines out from the IP back...

Just went back to unload some stuff out of my truck. The rubber hose is still there. It dark in there and if you don't know what you're looking at, you can't tell. Same color as the pipe, just thicker. Had to touch it just to verify. Seeing the drawing Guyfang posted out of the TM let me...

there might actually be a rubber hose in that stretch from the pan to the skid and I'm just looking at it assuming it's pipe. I'll look closer today.

Is this where the ground stud is supposed to be? Oil drain: No hose present. Just a pipe with a ball valve and a plug in it. I'm thinking I can rig something up easy enough. As long as the ball valve is there, I can remove the plug, attach some type of extender and then open the valve to...

Great info. I actually found the radiator hoses and bypass hose for reasonable prices but won't order them until I know this thing is gonna run and such. Found a rebuild kit for the water pump if I need it. Same with that.... if I end up needing it, I'll knw where to get it. Oil filter...

I will look closer at the set next time I walk out there but not seeing a capacitor yet. Ahh, I think I see the capacitor you mean - at the fuel pump ground with the wires cut. Will do.

pics of the inject pump. The only thing I see connected to the throttle is the adjustment knob under the control panel. Screw knob.

I'll have to look closely at this stuff a little later. Possibly tomorrow. Buried today. I took off the fan guard to get the lower radiator hose off. It's also got a bit of rust at the bottom. Will be blasted and painted before I re-install. I've briefly looked at the manual louver control...

you must have read my mind on that box LOL. 2 bolts holding it in there and I can already see it's just in the way. I'll go ahead and try turning it over by hand. May wait till I get the radiator off though. Would make it much easier. I read somewhere that this is a White brand diesel...

Yeah, was gonna take apart the panels under the control box but I need a break - it was a long weekend between loading and moving this, fence and taking all this stuff apart and then researching it - so I'm gonna take a break tonight. Need a helper to get the radiator / front of the case off...

pretty sure you're right about off-the shelf parts. From what I've read about the company during my searching, they made generators.

Bummer: Tried to contact Groban. Find all kinds of listings for the business on sites like Dun & Bradsteet. One site listed their website and phone number. Phone has been disconnected and website doesn't exist. But looking in the control box of this thing, I see a lot more solid state...

So, last night when I was digging around, I actually submitted a request for a quote from one of the Gov't supplier sites. Just got a reply via email. Lower radiator hose - $500. Why did he even bother??? Guess that's his way of saying "screw off".
