    New owner of MEP 802A

That's good advice. I'd like to learn to decide if I can do it on my own or not. Professionals here are licensed. Most likely if everyone on this forum only used professionals most of it would not be done. I remembered I knew a military electrician who came over and helped me with my 3-phase...

I like to make due with what I have and not spend money on a load bank. I've got three window AC units. Those will suck the electricity. I am looking for some way to run a wire into the panel. I've got a 30 amp breaker for the range/oven. We don't use it. Can I take the 120/240 from the...

That's a big step and one I wanted to eventually take. I'll need to figure out how to get it into my house panel. That should load it up at least close to 5kW.

I bet it will be easier to start now that I have had it running. I didn't put any load on it though. The thumb screw was clocked vertically and was so tight I couldn't turn it unless I removed the top. 80 PSI is cold and hot. It remained there for the full 20 minutes. Once a month check on...

My wife wants me to hook this up to the house I see the 24P has the diagram with the part numbers. It's just like an auto parts diagram. I found the fuse panel in there and am trying to find the faster on it. I don't see it. Am I looking at the right one here?

I put lawn mower batteries in mine because I saw someone else on this forum do it. A lot cheaper to buy two of those for $40 than the others. Such a save there. Those hooks that hold the battery down are too long. Has anyone done this and have a way to tie those small batteries down?

You are right. These things are probably the best because there is a Military manual for them which tells you everything you want to know. I'm scanning through them now trying to find a parts diagram for that panel.

I got all the filters on, oil, and coolant. In order to get to the air filter I had to remove the top. of the generator. Is there any easier way to get to that filter? It took a while to start even after priming it. I didn't see any diesel leaks. I was a bit surprised after all the talk about...

That works out well. I have a bunch of aircooled VW vehicles. I can use the same hose. 3.5MM.

I've seen a few videos that talk about the fuel lines leaking. Also mentioned above was the fuel lines leaking. Looks like it is a common problem. Is this just for the rubber lines or do the metal lines leak as well?

The use for this right now is on the back of a bus. Its use will be similar to the trailered models.

I saw a video of one of these and there was a grounding cable. I do not have one of those. I tried finding a topic on how to make them or buy them. Can someone direct me?

The coolant hoses have been removed. The oil fill screws and coolant caps removed. Everything is sitting open. Is that why you have suggested to flush the system? For the engine which has been sitting without oil, is there a start procedure that will allow oil to get to the bearings and pistons?

I don't see the Varistor so I ordered some.

I purchased a MEP 802A built in 1999 and rebuilt in 2010. It has 31 hours on it and hasn't been used for maybe 13 years. I've never owned a generator. I do own old cars and maintain and build on the engine. The generator came to me emptied of it' s coolant, oil, etc for long term storage. Is...
