    Night Blind Mutt....

Everything goes through the light switch and since some things work and others don't I'd say the switch is internally shorted.

    Frustrating Acceleration Problem

When you say new, do you mean it was overhauled or was it NOS? If you put an NOS carb on it that maybe your problem. The accelerator pump in the carb might have dried out and have a hole in it or it shrunk from improper storage. Another thing to look at is the choke. It will give you starting...

3 or 4 finger pressure plates

I just replaced mine because I had to replace the rear main oil seal. My old one was a 4 finger and the one I put in was 3 finger. One word of advice is when you replace the throw out bearing also replace the bearing carrier. It adds a few bucks more to the job but everything will be new and clean.

    Potential new member (M818 questions)

Where are you in Montana. Don't worry I have no interest in the location of the truck. There just aren't many of us MV minded people up this way.

Deuce Trip from MD to CA

I've seen these posts many times and always wondered, why would you buy a vehicle located on the opposite end of the country? I understand the guys in the rust belt coming out west or going south to find a nice truck, but to go from So Cal to the east coast. :shrugs: I'm sure you can find a...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

It took awhile but I finally finished replacing the rear main seal and clutch assembly on Saturday. The whole job was easy but was delayed by other pressing issues. The transmission was a breeze to reinstall and its nice when things line up correctly. Took it for a test drive and everything...

    Late Model USAF M35A2C Registry

Anyone know the total units produced under this contract? I contacted AM General and they say that info wasn't available to them in the data base. Anyway I found that there were 400 assigned to that contract but not sure if that was the requested amount or produced.

    Epic road trip

Your on official orders so any tolls paid can be claimed on your travel voucher. (Sarcasm Removed) However, I was born and raised in Chicago. I left there when I was 21 for the military and never looked back. I agree with others that if you can avoid the area you'd be better off.

    Removing rear main seal

Can't find info and TM doesn't go into detail. I have the bolts removed from the carrier and now I need to know how the carrier comes off. I've been tapping it with a mallet but nothing. How did you guys get them off?

    Changing Rear Main Seal

So I've been researching threads looking for info on clutch aligning tools. Someone posted the NSN for the military kit 5180-00-449-3785. I crossed that to a Snap On kit, P/N A37M. I really don't need the kit so I kept on looking through threads and someone else posted measurements of the inside...

    Changing Rear Main Seal

Well after degreasing and inspecting the flywheel and pressure plate, I will be taking them in to get resurfaced. I'll be taking these to an outfit that works on commercial trucks, buses and motorhomes.

    Changing Rear Main Seal

Well I'm finally getting around to getting this done but the credit has to go to my 20 yr. old son who is all over it. He started prepping the job on Sunday and when I got home from work yesterday there was a transmission on the shop floor. I went inside to change clothes and he had already...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Started the task of removing the transmission to replace the rear main seal and while I'm in there, throw a new clutch, pressure plate and pilot bearing in it.

    Question for Montana Members

Yea I don't need the surety bond or vin inspection because I have the SF97 from the government. However if you look at the DMV website it does state that anything over a ton requires commercial plates. You would think that if it was not used as a commercial vehicle that it would get regular...

    Hi from Chicago

Welcome from Montana and former resident of Chicago. Just one word of advice before you start buying parts. Take into account everything you need to put that truck back together and see where you are in terms of dollars. It looks to me that you bought some ones parts truck and all the little...

    Question for Montana Members

So I'm finally going to get around to titling and registering my truck. The last time I inquired at the DMV I was told that because its over a ton I would have to register it as a commercial vehicle. Today I seen one with standard Montana plates. Any of you guys run into the commercial plate...
