Potential for New Soft Doors HMMWV

I’m interested in a new set possibly. Are you looking at just the skins or full sets of doors including frames? Shipping the dang things is the biggest expense it seems, so doing the skins would prob be more reasonable.

Fan not engaging at temps over 220

I’m gonna give the TDM a try, as the test steps had me testing all the wiring for continuity, ground and 24V and all of those wiring tests checked out good, and those test steps lead me to a no fault completion. The no fault thing stumped me because obviously the fan isn’t kicking on. The only...

Fan not engaging at temps over 220

Yes, I got continuity on switch when cold, and then no continuity when hot, so I had my description backwards.

Fan not engaging at temps over 220

With the warmer weather today, I took the M1097R1 out for a ride and today the temperature got well over 230 and the fan never kicked on. I got out the TM and went through the steps. When I disconnect power from TDM, the fan kicks on, however, when I disconnect 458B from the thermostatic switch...

    Thermostatic fan switch

I just changed mine out and I used teflon tape and no leaks.

Wanting to start a new HMMWV business. Need your help.

If you want to do one truck at a time, I think it's a way to make some pocket change and have fun and keep the trucks alive as well. You need to enjoy tinkering with them and fixing them up though in my opinion, because even simple fixes are often hard due to the fact that they are all usually...

    New Coolant Leak

You can’t see exactly where that comes out, but it looks to be the right location of my leak. I think this solves my problem! Thanks for the image!

    New Coolant Leak

Thanks for this additional information. It all makes sense now. I was really concerned I had a coolant leak from a rusted engine block plug.

First car show of the year!! (Peoples Choice Award)

Congrats, that’s a good looking truck! Well deserved award.

Down the Rabbit Hole! My Chronicles of Buying a Surplus M1152A1. One Place For All Who Want to Know.

I lifted mine out when recently rebuilding my steering gear box. It was similar to lifting a 60 pound bag of concrete, so I’m guessing it weighs about 60 pounds. If you can lift a 60 pound bag, you can lift it out, just be careful of your fingers and don’t mash em. I had some trouble getting...

    New Coolant Leak

I’m leaning to the drain now as well. No rain in last two days and once I cleaned all the gunk off the hole it finally drained out and stopped. I drove it a few times yesterday, and no more drips so far. I’m thinking maybe someone screwed a hollow piece of pipe in there and over time it had...

    New Coolant Leak

I’ve driven around a few miles and got the operating temperature up to 220, and not a single drip now, so maybe it is a valley drain after all. I had forgotten that I had changed out my therostatic control valve and when I did, I lost some coolant that spewed all over the engine bay for about 3...

    New Coolant Leak

Here is a little better picture. There is the remains of something threaded into the hole. I can feel the threads on what is left, but there is no head any longer as all of that crumbled to pieces when I touched it. Now I’m concerned if it is supposed to be open and is a drain plug or if I need...

    New Coolant Leak

It has a plug in it, but it is rusted out and coolant is dripping from it, and the engine parts list does show a 3/8 block plug in that area. I’m going to crawl under this morning and see if I can get the rusted out plug out. I have a brass plug that will fit it based on the parts list...

    Jump Start Hmmwv?

They will jump start them, but if no batteries, they will list it as a non runner in most cases.

    New Coolant Leak

Based on what I’m seeing, it appears to be a 3/8 NPT engine block plug. I found a part number but it doesn’t seem to be readily available. I also found generic plugs available, so I think I can get one, I just hope I can get the old plug out since it is rusted and flaking. any suggestions on...

    New Coolant Leak

I found something in the engine manual and it just lists this as a “plug.” It doesn’t show a part number or anything. It looks like a bolt with a 4 sided square head. Anybody had to replace this plug? It looks like it just rusted out. Hopefully I can get it out without it falling apart as pieces...

    New Coolant Leak

I have a strange new coolant leak that I noticed today. There is a puddle of coolant under the transmission area. I crawled under and looked and coolant is leaking from a rusty looking bolt/nut just above the oil filter. I looked for a disconnected hose but nothing like that I can see. It just...

My 3 speed R1 does not have a quick disconnect.

    Jump Start Hmmwv?

Since I now own an M1097R1 and a M1078, I went and picked up a harbor freight 12/24V jump box. They have the 30% sales every few months, and I waited and purchased one at 30% off. It's been a great asset and it comes in handy when needed. I mostly use the 12V, but occasionally I need it on one...
