Deuce storage / long term parking Dayton, OH

I don't know about Wright Pat but most bases have some sort of RV Storage lot. It's usually cheaper than out in town and you can't beat the security. I keep mine on base at our MWR lot and it is gated, locked and I can tinker with her or take her for a drive at lunch.

    USAF M35A2C truck value

I believe that the USAF contract trucks did not come with tool racks or air assist, but did come with dropsides, dual circuit brakes, and the warning light. Mine agrees with all of those points. It also has the big horn button and a soft top. I would consider a USAF contract truck with a winch...

    Finding U6TL Battery

I followed the "buy the biggest battery they got" advice and found that they were too big for my plastic battery box. Luckily, Sam's took them back and swapped them for a couple other smaller batteries that fit and work fine. The take away being, if you can't find 6TLs, measure before you buy...

    Bid Collusion, Group Buys, etc

I don't know anything about collusion other than what I've read on here but from all I've read here I don't know if anyone reached that mark...but I didn't see all of the posts. I did see the first post though and I had already seen the items in question online. I was very interested in those...

Looking for surplus store in TX!

Is that the same as Red River Parts and Equipment? They are right across the highway on the north side of 30 from the RRAD. In the summer when everything is green they'd be hard to see from the road though. You'd pretty much have to know they were there.

New member near Fort Worth, TX looking for a Deuce

There are several active members in the DFW area. I live up in Keller but keep my truck on base at the JRB (old Carswell AFB). I got my truck off GL from Texarkana. If you are not opposed to using GL, there are a number of sites within an easy day’s out and back drive. If you'd like to get...

    Jump Starting a Deuce

wsucougarx, Like several of the replies to the original question said, just pull start it. You're probably going to want to take a tow strap anyway if you're planning on driving it home so, if it dies, just give it a tug with the truck. This should be especially easy if you've already had it...

    Truck Markings?

Texas allows you to use the trucks original markings instead of a license plate. That's what I'm doing and I keep my truck on base. I'd guess that the particular combination of letters and numbers that you chose may attract a little unwanted attention though. Or maybe attention is what you're...

    How do you say it?

I've always said kut-v unless I'm really thinking about it and then I try to pronounce it correctly as kuk-v. In 25 years I've never heard anyone in the military say C-U-C-V.

    Promotion

Congratulations Staff Sergeant. Those who have enlisted or reenlisted since Sept 11 show a special kind of metal. You obviously fit into that category. Thanks for serving ...your country needs you.

    Texarkana Recovery

Chuck and Pawnshop, I have some work to do before I can get her out and about regularly. I need to fix the starterfor starters (Ha Ha) but I'm up for getting together. Thundr, The first time I went up there I spoke to a gentlemen that worked at J.C.s with an offer like you just described...

    Texarkana Recovery

I went yesterday to try to pick up my first Deuce. We got to the GL lot around 1000 with a plan to charge the batteries one at a time from my 1/2 ton while I did a good preflight of the truck. All was going well, following the pickup sticky plan until it came time to bleed the fuel filters. I...

VIN Info-'You may fire when ready, Gridley.'

Unfortunately for me the truck is still at the GL lot. I did use the wrong terminology in my earlier post but I read the SN/VIN directly off the drivers side frame rail and unless I read it wrong it was 1040-10999. I did bite off on the easy target with the registration number that was printed...

VIN Info-'You may fire when ready, Gridley.'

RE: VIN Info- Medlog, M35A2C Purchased from GL at Redriver Army Depot Texarkana/Hooks, Texas March 08 (Awaiting EUC Approval) S/N 87K02342 VIN 1040-10999 Thank You for providing this service.

    Recovery advice

All, Thanks for the valuable input. I can't ignore the resounding cry to abandon the tow strap idea. I'll figure something out in order to jump it and if that doesn't work I'll have to have it towed off base. The truck is in Texarkana and I'm in Fort Worth a total of about 200 miles one way...

    Recovery advice

Well...that pretty much covers the tow strap idea... If I were able to use a towbar I'd still need a much bigger truck, correct. Is using the strap to pull start the truck any less foolish?

    Recovery advice

Once the EUC clears, I plan on trying to drive the M35A2C I won at Red River Army Depot home. I've read about what to bring on the recovery but I'm concerned about not being able to start the truck. If I can't get her running can I tow her with a tow stap for the 5 miles or so I'd need to at...
