Honoring the Proud American Gun Truck

Glad to see that it went to a good home and it continues to preserve the history. I know Proud American was on the road a short time and was well thought of in its unit and those that were lost. Its kind of humbling to know that my M-54A1 actually served in Vietnam and was built 11 trucks...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Pulled a fuel tank on my 1967 M-54A1 so it could be cleaned. I got it back today so hoping to get it back on this weekend and change a couple of filters and close out my fuel issue. Then its on to getting the brakes back up after 2 yrs of sitting.

    Fording kit r6602 gasoline engine

I have a NOS fording Kit for the 5 ton gas engine. I'd sell it. I used to have 5 of them but I am down to one. I will never use it for my M-62. They are pretty neat as the govt packed them in newspaper and they are dated in the 50's so the packing makes for some really neat reading!! It...

Divorce was final May 1. :tank: Cleaning up the yard and well this past Saturday I spent 3 hrs on a pressure washer getting over 2 years of crap off the M-54A1. She did not want to run at first but with a really good charge on batteries and a good shot of ether by me and my most amazing...

    Brutus' debut

I am talking about Wayne. Nope, on the OD. Wayne had it all black with an OD green mix. The gun box was removed in early 69 and installed on another chassis. This is where it went from a non- drop side to a drop side truck. Gun box remained Black/OD mix but truck was never painted and...

    War Wagon

I did not have access either but I found a company that does it and hired them to make the kit. The armor kit in VN was actually hardened armor plate. This was the panels that had the gun ports and they were not bolted together either but stitch welded. Some boxes held up better than others...

    R.I.P.-George Maneri-VERMONT COMM SALVAGE

Known George since I was 10 when my dad would take me to his place to look at army trucks and talk military history. Bought my first M-37 in 1996 and the bulk of my parts from him for it. I would later buy my 1st Deuce and my M-62 from him. In a even smaller world, I met a girl online in...
