If anyone in the San Diego county area is familiar with the M800 series

And I wouldn't recommend a new alternator until you determine the one on there is bad. I used a Delco like new one with new brackets. About $115. Some people like them and some don't. I've used them on a M813 and a M35A2 and both worked.

If anyone in the San Diego county area is familiar with the M800 series

Can you turn the engine over with a bar/socket? It may be frozen.

If anyone in the San Diego county area is familiar with the M800 series

Did it fail to start the same way as the first time? Just the solenoid clicking? It could be that the cables going to the starter need removed and cleaned to make a good connection. It may arc over a little and then open the connection and that will result in a clunk and no start. The relay...

My new hobby: Wood military vehicles

I am sorry I missed this thread until now. All I can say is wow! You can tell you are passionate about your hobby as it shows in all your models. And as most know I have a soft spot for Slidell since Katrina. Ever try aircraft? You know, something simple like an F-14A? ;-)

If anyone in the San Diego county area is familiar with the M800 series

I don't remember the symptoms of a control box problem but they are on this site. The control box is the black box on the firewall and has relays associated with starting in it. You could check the voltage on the starter when you try it making sure not to get anything shorted out or those 4...

If anyone in the San Diego county area is familiar with the M800 series

I think mine was 6-8mpg and like Mullaney said, go with the low side. While looks aren't everything I'd be doing a lot of work on that truck prior to driving it on a trip like that.

If anyone in the San Diego county area is familiar with the M800 series

I sold my M813 and I used to live in San Diego County. My piece of advice is to check on whether you can even get it registered to drive in CA. NHC-250 Cummins engine 5 speed manual transmission 2 speed transfer case Sprag front end wheel engagement 24vdc Alternator is lousy IMO I enjoyed...

On the hunt for a gas turbine!

I wish I could get hold of the local member that has one. I know since I had it here at the farm until he picked it up. It had the generator/turbine start setup on it. We never tried to start but it has a lot of cool factor.

Current Power-outages in South West Florida and new River Flooding

I feel bad for the family of the 89-yo. My wife and I rode out Ian in Myrtle Beach. It hit south of us but all the water and winds hit where we were. Took out the power to two condo building and one of them we were in. Power was out overnight and I had no power for my stroke prevention...

The official 2022 Southeast Military Vehicle Rally information thread (the event formerly known as the Georgia Rally). This is gonna' be awesome!

It hit north of Georgetown but we were in Myrtle. We had 64mph sustained and gusts to 94mph and this being my first I had to go stand on the balcony and no that isn't how I got hurt. But a dumb ace move all the same.

The official 2022 Southeast Military Vehicle Rally information thread (the event formerly known as the Georgia Rally). This is gonna' be awesome!

After sustaining a mild shoulder injury due to the hurricane my wife and I rode out last Friday I won't be able to make it this year. I'm upset but I can cross riding out a Cat 1 off my bucket list.

    Deuce storage

I go through a big bucket of TomCat rat/mouse bait every winter inside the barn. Sweep the mice up in the spring. Put a 12v BatteryMinder trickle charger/tender with desulphate on each battery. Watch when you start it so it doesn't go full throttle on you (like happened to me this year). You...

    Superthermal's M813 Build, THE BOT

Of the three trucks I had I miss the 813 most of all. I've got a couple of tips for you. One the NHC250 put the dual fuel line mod on it to smooth out idle. Put a gear reduction starter on it. I had a gear reduction put on mine and two car batteries would spin it like a top. M813s must be a...

    Tow bar

My very first Haspin I helped Gimpy load a TBFH. And my last time. I think it was in 2008 or '09.
