What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Bill does great work. If you ever want a soft slant back to match I use the same material from the same vendor. BDGR

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Made In America, Buy America The vinyl I use is made in New Jersey and the other parts (thread, cord and cord lock) are also US-made. And then it's made (by me) in Virginia. BDGR

    AWOLs 1997 M1097A2 Build

Happy to help! Hey, you need some footmen on the fenders and in the bed! The 1" can usually be found elsewhere on the truck, look behind the drivers seat or on the top of the inside of the windshield, for instance. Inside the bed on each side is supposed to be a long flat one that has been...

    Lenders for HMMWV purchase?

Bottom line is do your homework. Pictures are nice but not the same as laying hands on it. Plan to physically visit the depot before bidding. Self-pickup is better than arranging shipping, and be prepared to have to do A LOT of routine maintenance before trusting it. BDGR

Best places to look for a reliable 6.5 TD engine? What is needed to swap from a 6.2?

Beware of salvage 6.5 powertrains from late generation HMMWV scrappers. Mine was removed with bolt cutters and a blowtorch. All connectors were yanked apart, regardless of how they were screwed together, etc. Then there were the forklift tine strikes on the oil pan and transfer case. It was very...

    Lenders for HMMWV purchase?

USAA didn't mind loaning me, but membership eligibility is not open to all. BDGR

Is this a typo mistake or it’s possible?

Pretty sure my old 1987 6.2/3L80 drivetrain had a NP242. I thought it was original, given the age and lack of upgrades my National Guard truck had (or didn't have). BDGR

    Rubber cord source?

I was thinking that too. Can you recommend a source of the fabric-covered version Mark? BDGR

    Glow plug harness question

I did some more searching after finding the P/N in the TM. Looks like this won't work, too many pins. Maybe I could cut some off... (kidding). BDGR

    Glow plug harness question

Digging up an old thread. Can anyone comment on whether the cannon plug on this part number (12379865) can be spliced into my existing engine wiring harness? I have an old smart box that has died and the connon plug is corroded on. The rest of the wiring is OK as far as I know. I plan to get the...

    Replacement canvas or vinyl covers

YurtGuy, I wish you luck and am happy to provide any advice and experience I can. I speak "heavy-duty sewing" and will help if I can. There are a couple of us on the site who sew more than recreationally. To All: That said, comments about $400 5-ton bed covers strike a nerve with me. Skip the...

    Starting problems 1991 Humvee

Agree w checking all wiring connections and battery state of charge. Could be something simple (not that new batteries are cheap, but you get the idea). Also, not everyone knows that the post the positive lead off the forward battery goes to has a corresponding post on the other side, meaning...

    My 1952 M135 Build

Well done! The Cummins swap will be of interest to many. Do you plan a 4BT, 6BT, or something else? New transmission too I assume? BDGR

    Bimini Jeep Style Top

It's easier than you think Mogman... he posts his cell phone # in the threads. He prefers you call and chat. Good old fashioned human interaction! Call him, he's a good guy. There is a sticky thread he wakes up periodically, but it's simple, for HMMWVs he does tops, door skins and rear curtains...
