    m35a3 wont go forward

I know you don't want to hear this but.....When Mercedes electronic transmissions crap out they will go forward/reverse in any gear, even neutral, or they just don't move at all. I know nothing about Allison automatics, but it sounds like a more serious problem than just fluid level or linkage...

    Diy rock sliders

I too am amazed at the quality of your welds. I have been MIG welding for 30 years and I just hate to see chicken scratch welds. Yours are beautiful. I also ship stuff all over the world with my used parts business and have had to come up with some creative shipping methods. You have exercised...

    CUCV M1008 Steering Slip

I had a 1981 Ford (I know the F Word) F150 4WD years ago that was doing something similar when I bought it and drove it home. Turned out a large chunk of the frame had broken off and the steering gearbox was dancing around all over the place. The piece was still attached to the gearbox. Made for...

    M1009 front bench seat conversion?

I like the seats Cajun, but how do you get in the back with those seats. Just wondering?

Best thing I have ever Heard!

My "Spousal Equivalent" absolutely hates my CUCV. Says it's the ugliest truck she has ever seen. Doesn't bother me none. I love my truck. Consider yourself lucky that your "Baby Momma" likes your truck.

    In glass antenna mod

The in glass radio antenna works well. I drove a '78 C10 for years and the radio always had good reception. As far as tweaking for CB or Ham, not sure how that would work. Mercedes has a splitter for car phone antenna but that technology is a bit outdated now. At my house, the Ham always got...

    In glass antenna mod

LMC truck has the antenna lead in cable for $7.95 and the piece that snaps onto the windshield also $7.95. At that price, its almost not worth the trouble scouring bone yards. Just a thought.

    M1010 w/12v get A/C working?

You don't have to change the compressor to run R134. I have been converting Mercedes to R134 for years just by evacuating the system of all R12 and pulling system into a vacuum for at least an hour, add 2 or three ounces "Frigi-Quiet" a/c oil made by BG Chemicals and the charging with R134. I...

In need of serious help in NE PA

Seems to be a lot of this going around this weekend. Wish I were closer to lend a hand. Good luck.

    Cookout at Zout's

Sounds like a good time. I had to miss the 2011 GA Rally because the truck had oil cooler lines leaking (among other issues) and didn't want to chance the 185 mile trip from Coosa. Lilburn is a little closer, only 105 miles, but the truck is in a lot better shape now. Looking forward to meeting...

M37 + mercedes What do you think?

I would not have cut the glow plug wiring harness during removal. I would have simply followed it to the relay mounted on the fender well and took the relay too. The relay is powered by 1 wire (hot all the time 12v). The relay does the rest. The thermo time switch is already on the cylinder head...

    Capacity?

@jdeoliveira. I believe you meant to say the 1009 is NOT designed for towing.

    Capacity?

I put a receiver hitch on my 1008 and I regularly tow (at least until Friday, see Friday the 13th scare thread) a 1500 lb trailer with 4000 lb cars on it. Tows like a dream, you just can't go very fast.

    Capacity?

It's the pintle hitch, I would think. Even though they bolted the back bumper on nine ways to Sunday on the 1008, it still is not as strong as a receiver hitch. The bumper on the 1009 is not that strong from what I have seen.

Anyone know what the heck this is..?

I like them too and want one. It would go good with my German 5L Jerry can from 1959. I'll have to post pics of an item I found at an antique store years ago, long before I developed the dreaded Green Disease.

    What a dead horse

The military version of these trucks have a larger fuel cap so you wont be able to make a pressure adapter from a civvy fuel cap.

Does anyone have an extra set of oil cooler lines?

I never understood why GM did the lines the way they did on these vehicles. The oil cooler lines come off the engine on the left and go into the radiator on the right, while the trans lines come out of the trans on the right and go into the radiator on the left. That just seems like a lot of...
