Export port?
Thanks for the info,
better double check that he wanted to export through Charlotte, or maybe he can handle it from there... and I guess I now confess to my general ignorance of US geography....
Guys and gals,
I'm hoping someone can help me solve a bugbear in my plans to ship a Goat to Australia, it seems my importer is having problems getting US domestic transport quotes for travel from NY to NC.
Anyone got any recommendations or in a position to offer their services?
Thanks
Spock
Found this in my trollings I suspect it is the unit that Bill Jankowski (sp?) acquired. http://svsm.org/gallery/gama_goat_prototype/IMG_7876 It has obviously been restored, a rather different beast to the M561 we are familiar with. Spock
Hey meccman..
if you look real hard, i believe one was shipped to a farm via christchurch in the 90's.
failing that, try looking for gamagoat.com in wayback, he had most of the dimensional specsand drawings when it was up.
otherwise, flick me a pm with your email and i'll have a look see what...
Have to remember that for when my finances finally enable me to "put my money where my mouth is". Been watching them come and go for near on four years now...
Spock
You mean like this one?
or this....
GAMA GOAT 6X6, The Ultimate Off Road Vehicle!
the second i believe now has an alaskan camper mounted on it
there was also one doing the european truck trials... can't find the link right now
or more seriously, i believe power steering was trialled...
If i had em Bill, i'd post em just for you.
However, the seller wasn't so keen to sell i guess.
apparently an ex-Parks rig with a dodgy front diff, located in a shed in another state.
communication dried up once i asked for pics.
Still lookin i guess,
Spock
Hmmph... that'd be right....
guess i just wait and see then....
on the upside i now believe there have been ten imported already... two then exported....
Spock
Following rig has turned up on Craigs List in Scio Portland;

I have tried to contact through CL without success, does anyone know the rig or owner?
Spock
Idaho Motorpool are listing rebuilt multifuels, dunno if any are 3-53's.
If not All Diesel Spares on the Gold Coast are listing a couple at the moment..... rather than import 'em back, drop a line and see if they'll word you up on their source.

I know a few of the guys here have put a few regular miles on their goats. Any comments on reliability as a daily driver?
Would also appreciate an idea of fuel economy.
Thanks for the wealth of knowledge you all make available for others to access.

lots of aftermarket speedo setups designed to feed to rally computers, basically a prox counter setup, any rotating shaft (preferably keyed) could be set up... question is more how/where would you mount the readout....
Spock
Pretty sure Sevo scored one with a winch on the nose... PM him and see if he's pulled it apart for refurb yet, might be able to score pictures and measurements etc..
Spock
Chris,
i have been enquiring through my import agents here... and no i still haven't found the funding... they reckon BlackLab Transport are the ducks nuts for internal US transport, self motile or not.
Guesstimate SLC to Stanton Ca was 1300 USD.
Spock
Not in a position to swap stuff around even if i wanted to, thanks for the advice, narrows my parameters a bit more.
Using an importer in Oz, who has a customs agent and exporter in US, i ain't smart enough to sort through two countries beauracratic bumf.
Biggest worry is making sure it's...
