Isn't an M118 trailer basically the same as an m146 without the box? I have the M146 manual but the one for the M118, TM 9-2330-210-14&P, is still code B so it can't be downloaded.
...Maybe someone could PM it to me..... ;-)
Regards,
Jon
The M52 runs very well but has bad tires and unfortunately also has a cracked frame, and may ultimately end up parted out. It is titled but not registered or insured so it wouldn't be able to go on the base for recovery anyway... I'll probably pay Barstow Towing to do it, unless someone local...
Yup it's going to become a camper, but rather minimalist... A/C on the roof but I'm not sure about a genset so the A/C may only work when plugged in to shore power. I'm going to paint the walls seafoam green, leave the roof white. Clean, sand, stain, and seal the floor. Interior appointments...
Hmmm.... 6 years, 5 MVs, over 10,000 miles in my deuce throughout the state and never any problem whatsoever. Not from the cops, not at the DMV, not the city or county.... But then, I do have an acre of worthless desert that nobody pays much attention to.
I think you guys are biased. There...
I bought 6TLs at AutoZone. Any place that sells batteries can order any battery you need. The guy who didn't know what a 6TL was is either new to the business or was trying to sell you a battery with a higher profit margin.
A few more...
Pic 1 - This is the front of the label that came attached to my NOS Governor speed sensing unit I got on eBay from Vietnam.
Pic 2 - Here's the back side with instructions.
Pic 3 - Here's the NOS Zenith Mechanovac speed sensing unit from Vietnam. The connector on the left side...
Here's a few more pics of the diaphragm in the slave unit...
Pic 1 - Shows the brittle old Zenith diaphragm on the left and the new Holley on the right. I have already removed the Holley pull rod and enlarged the center hole, it's ready to install.
Pic 2 - This is the way the Holley...
Finally some progress!
After leaving the governor slave assembly to sit a while, I recently decided to try to take it apart.... I was pleasantly surprised to find that it came apart easily. I simply took the two valve plates out of the valve body and then put pressure on the shaft with my...
I would bet that your unit is actually made by Hobart... Maybe the data plate is faded or has some damage that makes it look like "Holgart" instead of "Hobart" but Hobart is a popular brand of generators and welders.
The 2-71 gensets that used to power virtually all railroad refrigerator cars...
Have you called Antelope Valley Equipment & Truck Parts yet? I don't know for sure if they have it, but they have a lot of WWII parts....

You mean the rainy 65 degree heat we've had this week?
Great truck. Do you have to keep it at a storage yard? I'm familiar with your area, I worked almost 10 years at the RR yard off Washington and the 710, before I transferred to San Bernardino.
Jon
The pressure plate finger adjustment isn't supposed to be tinkered with in the truck, it is supposed to be done on a surface plate with feeler gauges. I don't see how this can be done to the degree of accuracy required, in the truck. If I made this mistake, I would pull the trans and clutch...
:ditto:
I know where several 2-71 powered military welding trailers are, they were built in 1962 and 1966. Unfortunately they are in scrap condition and the seller wants $1200 each.
I've also seen a 3-71 powered centrifugal pump on a military trailer....
Jon
It's been all the common failures... Input shaft bearings, 2nd gear welding itself to the shaft, and 5th gear shattering like glass. The 10-speed will be a close fit without moving the transfer case... I need to do more measuring still.
I'll be starting a new thread when I have some more...
Those little centrifuges are meant to be used as a bypass filter on a diesel truck with maybe a 6 gallon crankcase capacity. For a truck with more oil, the centrifuge should be much bigger.... Even the Spinner II centrifuge on my deuce is twice that size.
Is the outfit you bought it from...
I know where Mark got that deuce! ....And I know where the other trucks from Indiana Jones are.... The ones that survived, anyway. The one that was wrecked contributed a flywheel and some other small pieces to my deuce before it was scrapped. I also enjoyed punching my fists through it's...
Well, that one had me worried, but I'm happy to report that the thermocouple didn't fail after all. I finally got a chance to take a look today, and discovered that the thermocouple had come out of the compression fitting holding it into the manifold, and that was responsible not only for the...
I haven't started a thread for it yet, it may be a ways off..... Since my 3rd Spicer 3053A has now failed, I have been weighing my options. My original and ultimate goal is to have a Detroit 4-53T with ten speed in my deuce. It will fit without moving the transfer case back because the Detroit...
