This truck has served me as a daily driver, tow vehicle, light service truck and now is my delivery car for the pizza joint I work for currently, my other cars are a 1990 and 1991 mazda...
When I turn my fan on high it will barley light up my gen2 light, I haven't blown any fuses to it but I'm sure it has some resistance at the switch...just hasn't become a problem...yet
You would need a 12v starter for a 12v system it's more work to convert it than what it's worth..essentially you would just be ruining it...ive had my truck 5 years now and would never consider doing it...the 24v to 12v resistor should be thrown away though as I showed in my video ...its a...
After my last post I gave it some thought and putting a 12-volt starter in these trucks is like yanking out the V8 Diesel that it has and putting a 4-cylinder in it if that brings it into perspective a little better
There's no benefit to the 12v starter that I can see.....besides the 24 to 12v resistor and starter nothing else is 24v if you remove the resistor as I have shown in the video I posted the only thing left is the starter which if 12v will already be underpowered for the job of starting a high...
Mine would try to melt the headlight fuse often....after the new starter and removing the reisitor I didn't have an issuse..problem is when the 24 to 12v resistor goes bad it sends 24v to everything that only runs 12 or in my case that's what happened...i believe the starter began the process as...

My 24 to 12v resistor went out so I rewired it without the part and before it went it fried my gp relay I slave started it and it fired after 3 days of cranking only...i found the information here how to bypass it to test it then I went and bought a relay and it's fine now...the resistor tried...
My batteries are 5 years old, 1000 cca
When the starter starts to fail it will take longer to start o assure you, I'm on my second starter this year after the original ( rebuilt) had failed...the next aftermarket one I had warrantied because it broke in half. I hope this one lasts longer but...
I will purchase a better unit when the funds are able to be thrown at it, I got the truck back on the road for $65
Also recent starter and tossed the 24 to 12v resistor and wired it to the 12v bar

The g80 is the locking mechanism in the rear diff, they explode when you floor it with one wheel on the pavement and one wheel in the mud, it's a low speed traction device (posi)
They work best when both the wheels are on the same terrain. I abused it and got what I deserved, since then I...
