Why bother with the Por-15. I've heard of people having problems with it pealing up if the prep work is not done per Por-15 instuctions. Also if you are doing a Vietnam era Army marked truck, the propper color is #24087. And most people tend to stear away from Aervoe paint as it tends to fade...
I'm across the lake from you on the Michigan shoreline, but I know there are several Wisconsin owners over at the http://www.m715zone.com Maybe one of them will be close enough that you could take a peek at them.
Especially since around that time would have been the switch from Jeeps military vehicle division to AM General once AMC bought Jeep. Being that AM General designed and produced the HMMWV, I would assume the same engineers would have been involved in both vehicles.
Just remember that at highway speeds you will be driving the most un-aerodynamic vehicle out there. It's like driving a flying shoe box. Also they are fairly hot in the summer due to lack of ventilation. But they are fun to drive and I love cruising my around in the summer. Mine is all...
Thanks everybody for the votes, and I'm proud to kick off 2015 as the January MV of the month. Ok so who get to teach me the secret handshake? Papabear? Thanks to all the other contestants as everyone has outstanding MV's.
Bump for the day crew.
Thanks everyone so far, I'm floored by all the support for my 67' M715. This vehicle was marked for the 313th ASA out of FT. Bragg which was a unit my father served with in the early 60's. They were sent to Key West FL. during the Cuban Missile Crisis and stayed in a...
1967 Kaiser Jeep M715 that I bought in Sept. of 2004 and began restoration in Dec. of 04' and rolled out of my shop April of 2005 all finished. Restoration was a complete frame off and every piece of metal was stripped to bare metal. This was my first MV and has led to my green iron disease...
One pic is in my driveway and the other two are out on a public road right after a snow storm. The road crews had not been out to salt yet so I went for a nice ride in the fresh snow.
Here is a link for M60 platform mounts. http://www.cranetechnologiesinc.com/M60PlatformMount.html I bought a couple of them to use on some airsoft A&K M60's I have. I had to mod them a bit to work with the airsoft rifles but not too bad and could still be used with a real M60. I had to add a...
When you input the vehicle type you get one that looks like this and is too long to fit with the Military dist. http://www.autozone.com/external-engine/fuel-pump/airtex-fuel-pump/jeep/j-pickup/1967/6-cylinders-3-8l-1bl/775700_806779_0/ but they do show a dual action pump with vacuum at...
I was able to buy an Airtex one about 18 months ago for my M725 I just finished from Autozone for around $35. The listed fuel pump for the civilian 230 does not work with the military dist. due to the extra size of the military dist. and I can not think of which application the 6510 fit. I'll...
It also looks like it has a civilian dist., plug wires and spark plugs and I would check to see if they converted it to 12v. A lot of the hard to find usually missing parts look like they are still on yours which is a great thing, especially the tailgate. What's missing looks to be common...
Ok let me get this straight, I'm a "jack leg" for swapping out the fuel pump to a civilian unit and electric wipers, yet keeping the rest of the truck stock. But your suggestion is to swap the motor, transfer case and a whole bunch of other things and that's OK. Talk about being a hypocrite.
The negative lead goes to the same mounting point on the frame as the motor grounding strap and the positive lead goes to the positive battery side of the foot switch. None of the slave cable leads run all the way into the battery box. Somewhere in one of the manuals it shows this. Remember...
Well Bob I'm glad that you think my suggestion of a quick, and simple replacement of the fuel pump with the civilian version is such a "jack leg" idea to help a guy get a vehicle going. Maybe if you were not so condescending most of the time people might value your posts more than they do.
