GKN made 1-piece Budd center wheels in recent years for the M101A1 trailer & for use on the M37, so you can run tubeless tires. But they aren't cheap through SECO...

You must be unfamiliar with how they attempt to earn all they can keep... they get paid to create interesting bills/laws/regulations - Sad reality is that most politicians involved in these issues never knew that there was any issue to begin with.
Sadder still is that rules/laws...
M101 - parking brake handles parallel to front bed wall panel.
M101A1 - parking brake handles perpendicular to front bed wall panel
M101A2 - 8-bolt single piece rims

big1096's post of the letter from Nancy Jacobs brings up the point that I'd see as the reason for many of these bills, regardless of state that the 'movement' occurs in... people skirting the intent of the use of Historic Tags in order to pay lower rates, then use the vehicle in a fashion that...
Those that signed onto the bill are merely there scratching the back of the initial bill proposers, so that those folks will support the supporters' piece of junk legislation, etc, etc, etc... when they need support for a bill.

I'd say that they officials are trying to limit people on buying over 10k trucks, tagging them historic, and using them for commercial means... not that ANYONE would ever do this...
Similar to some states allowing purchase of an M35 but restricting you to 500 lb cargo in the bed.

You MD fellas have the dogs in the hunt on this, but there shouldn't even be ANY restriction on DD use of said vehicles. If you don't lay in verbiage to that affect, then the guys that DO intend to use their trucks as DD's get screwed...DD use increases the money in the coffers through more...
Agreed, SWBradley, but my point is the 'creative friend' that screws the pooch & causes trouble for other people.... much like registering an over 10k pound truck as a 'historic pickup truck' to pay less fees or taxes...
...if a town or county stated that the min acreage to be considered a farm is 5 acres, and someone tries to get 2.5 acres classified as a farm, then it most definitely violates the law or regulation, regardless if no one checks or enforces it.
This lack of supply is primarily due to the fact that major oil recyclers are going after the quick-change oil places & offering $1.00+ per gallon of waste oils/fluids. This is common in most cities/towns of size & often is based on corporate agreements with the HQ of the franchises. Your best...
You are probably legit by word of the law - the issue that makes it bad for the 'good guys', regardless of the state you reside in, are the 'creative individuals' that choose to 'stick it to the man'... only to get themselves stuck in the long-run.
Good luck to you Maryland folks... Also...
No one I'm aware of has a 100% bolt-on solution available - Ugly Truckling used to offer parts/plans to adapt a Dodge/GM power-steering
box to the M37, but it's no longer available.

Cost of bulk wire is an issues as well - I know, 'cause I work in the wire/cable manufacturing industry... Copper is running ~ $3.80/lb now for virgin stuff.
You can still get the Hypalon jacketed wire, but there are more modern, better quality jacket materials available that keep the majority...
