One correction here. I checked the well again as it was running and was seeing 15 amps on each leg when it started. So the draw I was able to see on my meter is 15 total, not 2x15. My assumptions for 240v were wrong, or my understanding on how it worked. The legs alternate, not add up...

Well, I guess this is my issue then. The generator is likely fine. If it only puts out 16 amps then it is likely the old well pump is just drawing too much.
Ok. So it sounds like I have an old motor that has a huge inrush draw. Running amps are 8 amps but it could be drawing anywhere from 24 - 40 amps at start up?
What is the max amp output of a mep701a wired for 120v/240v split? On each leg, is it 16 amps max for a total of 32?
This well pump is 35 years old and has no capacitor to start it. It runs; panel > on/off switch > Pressure tank switch > out to the well.
Is that my issue? There should be a capacitor to kick this thing off for gen power?
To add, I've put 15 hours on it over the past 3 days. Runs along no issue at 60hz. It is a low hour machine. I just don't know why it won't turn on a 240v well pump that probably surges or draws what I think is 8 amps max or something like 3000w.

We've been out without power for several days here in CT. I've been running my MEP701A. I have it wired for 120/240 split single phase. L0- Ground L1- HOT L2 - Hot. It has the jumper inside the unit. It is wired directly into a sub panel.

I'll agree with what everyone else is saying. These are tractors from the 50's that are forced to go highway speeds with a lot of weight. They see get to 30k miles and the engines are loose or blown.

FDC bypass to "convert" to diesel is a common misconception. It just turns the pump up so there is no more compensating or regulation.
Run whatever you want as it is, it is a multi fuel currently.
And CDL is over 26k. Not this truck. Again, you are not using this for commercial use. You aren't being paid to move stuff in it on the road. You are NOT commercial. This needs to be understood, as this is what the DMV likes to throw around. Commercial codes and laws do not apply to you...

I beveled the back side of my m35a3 rims so that I could run them either way. Same issue as you, needed to bevel them. I used a HSP1-2-82T countersink and did it on a Bridgeport. You could do it with hand tools if you had a big enough chuck adapter.
